Library [Sunday, February 24]

After his player's crappy week spending a lot of time in his room this week, Lee had finally ventured out for his weekly time in the library. He hadn't meant to be reclusive but things happened and naps were becoming a favorite thing of his.

But, he was awake this morning, drinking water and shelving books.

"Not that difficult," Adah, chuckling, admitted. "I would have just told the truth, simple enough. What would be difficult to explain would come later, when they're looking over my med school application and they want to know why I got fired from a voluntary position at a local clinic. That situation would require a bit more creativity on my part, I'm afraid."

"It never hurts to be prepared," Adah said simply, "for something that important."

Adah grinned, mostly proudly, but somewhat conspiratorially as well. "You should have seen me when I came in to tell Dr. Remile that he had to admit me into his school. I have the benefit of the habit to disarm people with shock at my sheer audacity that they're too stunned to realize what hit them. I trust that this would serve me well, in that case. Like I said, once I set my mind on something..."

Adah eyes him for a moment, as if calculating, with a wry smirk. "Only if you agree not to abuse the power," she decided. "Part of my power of persuasion comes from the fact that I talk so little. If I say something, usually, it means it's because whatever it it is, I've decided it's important enough for me to raise my voice. That's probably why I get so tripped up around you; I mince words with you; I practically babble. So I've lost all my power of words with you."

Oddly enough, the fact that her heart seemed to lurch slightly, ruining its usual steady cadence of beats, over his growing smile didn't annoy her as much as it usually did. Maybe it was simply the fact that his perception was slightly skewed. Occasionally, she slipped up, she'd admit. More often with him than anyone else, but she talked to him more than anyone else, so of course the chance of error would be bigger. However, if he honestly thought that what he head was an unguarded stream of consciousness...she kind of wondered what he would think of her babbling if she had removed her filters.

He's probably think she was quite nearly insane, even more than the split dueling personalities previously discussed. And he'd probably be right.

"Perhaps a bit," she smiled back, wondering if she was blushing (which she was), and ducked her head slightly. "You're just easy to talk to sometimes."

Sometimes. When she wasn't being too caught up in herself, it was practically a breeze.

Despite her best, grinning, tight-lipped attempts, Adah chuckled lightly. "You say that about a lot of my compliments, you know."

"Well," Adah said, quietly, lowering her eyes so she could track the progress of her hand creeping toward him across the desk, fingers like the legs of spiders, walking it with clear intention for the Eel's hand with all the grace and speed her own legs would never have, "I happen to mean all the ones I give, so I guess it works out pretty well for both of us, doesn't it?"

Adah lightly slid her palm over his offered one, gently curling her fingers around it, a soft move that contradicted the sharpness of her jerky nod. "Good, then," she said. "Good..."
