In a surprisingly neat hand, the following list had been posted to the door:

Vala was grinning as they entered, then locked the door behind them. "Good morning, my minions. Welcome to a life of freedom and debauchery, at least until lunch, when you return to your normal everyday routines, which anywhere other than Fandom would be quite dull."

Vala opened the lid and hmmmed at what she found inside. "I don't know. Maybe if you threw in that sword you were wearing..."

The thing was, by the time Vala got around to asking about the sword, Chad had already turned around and started running away.

That strategy had very rarely failed him before.

She'd been a space pirate for a few years now, and this was the very first time she'd ever had anyone give her treasure without asking for anything in return.

So now she was stepping back from the chest and running after Chad, not to catch him, but because she thought he'd rigged it to explode. After four steps, she remembered that she hadn't programmed the treasures to be detonated and went back to the chest to see what she'd gotten.
