Saturday Morning, Detention--Danger Shop

In a surprisingly neat hand, the following list had been posted to the door:

Detention: Saturday, February 23

Eve Levine
John Sheppard
Karal Austreben
Liir Thropp
Teyla Emmagan
Yasutora "Chad" Sado

Vala was grinning as they entered, then locked the door behind them. "Good morning, my minions. Welcome to a life of freedom and debauchery, at least until lunch, when you return to your normal everyday routines, which anywhere other than Fandom would be quite dull."

[ooc: OCD a'comin' is up. Play away! ETA: Oops. So, yeah. I forgot to mention that any tools are fully available and moddable.]

Coffee was a good idea. John drank thankfully, hoping the all-leather experience would improve with a stimulant.

"How does that taste?" he asked, pointing at the coffee.

"I've always been rather curious."

"Tastes like a wake up call," John said, drinking deeply from his mug. "You should try some."

[ooc: would you care to deal with an incredible bouncing Liir? *giggles*]

"Wake up calls aren't exactly pleasant," he said thoughtfully as he sniffed at the air. The scent was odd, nutty with an astringent note that drew him towards the carafe.

"What's it made of?"

"Um, coffee?" John shrugged. "Seriously, all I know is it tastes good and there's water involved."

"Fair enough."

He poured himself a cup, breathed in the scent of it, and smiled. Then he took a sip.

Mm. Bitter. But not unpleasantly so. The nutty quality kept it from causing a pucker.

This was just an assumption based on the whole pirate thing, but Chad figured he'd load up on the fruit. He didn't know if space pirates were as wont to get scurvy as regular pirates were, but he wasn't going to take any chances.

Teyla took some fruit and tea and tried to figure out how she'd ended up in detention in the first place. She was certain that she hadn't done anything wrong.

Chad gave his little sis (once removed) a slight lift of a finger around the apple he was about to bite into, a sort of a form of a wave. He had to admit feeling a little curious what landed her here.

Teyla spotted Chad, and gave him a full wave. "Hello. I thought I heard your name in the announcement yesterday."

"Yeah," Chad muttered, a little downcast or embarrassed, but it was hard to tell. "Lottery got me. Got Teddy last week, too. What about you?"

"There is a lottery for detention?" Teyla asked. "I have not gotten into any trouble. I do not think I should be here."

Chad grunted as he nodded. "Yep. Definitely the lottery, then. I swear, they just pick names out of a hat sometimes, especially since no one really seems to get in enough trouble for a detention these days."

"But that is completely unfair!" Teyla said. "Does this happen every time there is a detention?"

"Yeah," Chad nodded. "Jus' about." He shrugged. "I don't get it either. Could be worse, though. I read this popular book back in Japan, once, where there was a lottery, but instead of just getting detention, you had to try to kill all your classmates. If they're gonna do a lottery, I'm glad they're going with this."

Karal had been too busy to eat, so he helped himself to fruit and tea.

Though he did make a face at the tea, because it wasn't up to Karsite standards.
