Library, Wednesday [ 02/20 ]
Adah wasn't the slightest bit happy about the return to her remembrance of dreams, and she blamed it entirely on Rachel's letter. That letter, her Trojan horse, docile and amusing on first glance, but, once you settled in and got comfortable with it, it bit you, like a serpent, bright blue mouth, the diabolic genius of nature attained from the highest degree of perfection. You didn't stand a chance. And then they appeared in multitudes in your dream, slithering forth from chicken coops surrounded by ashen dance floors of six-toed men. The chickens were all nothing but bare bones, flapping bare bone wings (find the furcula, break it apart, make a wish!), and then Tata Ndu shows up in his smell dead fur cloak. Rachel had gone and married, so it was time to take a new wife from Tata Price. Seeing as Leah was regarded practically a boy (and they were polygamists here, not homosexuals) and the little one was dead, that just left Adah. And Adah would do, applying to her same thing he'd said about the Mvula: "She will amuse my other wives."
Needless to say, waking up with that didn't leave Adah in the best of moods for her shift today.

First Period -- 02/20
Second Period - 02/20
Re: Second Period - 02/20
That last thought had River worried a little. Friday had been good; she had been happy. Happiness was bound to end sometime.
She entered the library, looking for Adah.

She honestly had trouble seeing how her mood would be conducive for conversation with River right now. She could see it having absolutely no effect at all, but, more than likely, it was grating nerves, tight and dragging in a flurry of heat sparks. And sparks were bad when you were surrounded by books.

"Brought fruit salad."
Re: Second Period - 02/20
She grunted slightly, leaned heavily on the cart of a moment in an odd, awkward sort of action that somehow allowed her to kick down the little break on the wheel, so it didn't roll about as she turned to face River and lean her hip against it. She gave another resolute smile, wondering how much of that badly needed mental rant that Adah had just gotten out of the way, and quirked her head and she cleared all that away to comment instead, teasingly, on how this was certainly not an appropriate place (with a unwelcome little linger of or time) for fruit salad.

On the bright side, she was starting to see the appeal of all those virgin Catholic saints (although she doubted, heavily, the virgin parts). She sighed, shaking her head again. She didn't want to think about it, but she couldn't help thinking about it. She let out another groan, trying to focus instead on what else River had said. Which was a lot easier, a lot lighter, and made her smirk a bit wryly.
She didn't bring him anything today in sway of her mood. Maybe he'd like some fruit salad...
...Dog, she was going to need a nap once she got out of here. Juggling moods and intentions was exhausting.

"Books got put away," she answered. "The adventure was almost too much to handle."

It was an innocent enough question. Really.
