Applied Inventiontronics, Period 4 - Week 7

The desks were paired off again, each with a set of tools, and there was a crate full of completely modable spare parts.

Yes, kids, it is project time again, and Glitch was standing at the front of the class looking very delighted by the whole thing. Really, this was probably his favorite kind of class to teach.

"Alright, class," he said with a smile. "Today, you're going to build something out of nothing. Pick up some parts and start to put them together. Don't worry if you can't get it to work or don't have a set design for it. It doesn't even have to have a real function, if you can't find one, heh. The point of this is for you to get an idea of what it's like to start building something with these materials."

There may or may not have been a moment or two where he bounced ever so slightly, but those moments should be ignored.

"And don't forget that after next weeks break, you'll need to be ready to bring in your preliminary designs for your final projects."

Nothing like ending the lecture on something to strike fear into the hearts of his students, though that wasn't entirely intended.

[ooc: The OCD is a work in progress up!]

"No," he snapped, the whole of his body shaking with...

With...

He didn't even know what. But he did know he wasn't happy.

"It's the string beans you had last night for dinner come for revenge."

A brief pause.

"Yes, Liir."

"I don't know."

Ground out. Was it the green? Did it drive you to rages and antisocial behavior? Or was it the feeling of being violated that bothered him so, of being changed as if by a sneak thief in the night?

Or because it felt like he was being mocked. Yes. That was it. More than anything else.

"I just woke up like this this morning. Can you fix it?"

Please went unspoken.

He breathed out. Slowly.

"Thank you," he said anyway. "I'll just... keep myself to my room and work on my project then, I suppose."

The green might have disguised him had he looked sick, but it showed all too clearly how heartsick he felt.

"I'd... prefer not to be green when I see her," he said, keeping his breathing steady and deep. "It's not a color well liked in Oz, at least not when I'm from, and I'll be nervous enough."

"That... that might be wisest if you don't mind," he said, though he was thinking of Michael's offer of help for later.

"I... I should hope so. Even if I'm not," he thought of Chad, of last night, "I don't think it can wait any more than that. It shouldn't."

He nodded.

"I'll... let you know."

There was a pause.

"Can I stay in your office tomorrow? I-in case?"

And now his stutter. Dammit.

"Thank you."

Because he'd be hiding most of the time, but having someone to hide with made it a little better.

There was a long pause before he finally said

"I'm sorry for snapping. Earlier. I don't--"

He breathed in.

"I feel like someone's played a prank on me and I'm not used to it anymore."

He wanted a hug. He desperately wanted a hug. Part of him ridiculed himself for it, for acting like a child and wanting someone to hold him... except, perhaps, that no one ever had.

He nodded.

"I'll try not to do it again," he said anyway.

He would try to hug the professor if he stayed any longer.

"I should head to my room." Or rather, Andrew's.

"Thank you again. I'll see you tomorrow."

And he'd see if he could cook up something to make up for today's snap.

At which point he ran off with a green-handed wave.
