When the students met again, they were in a room with a series of low tables and pillows to sit on.

"We're going to discuss the Tao some more today," Biff said, going from table to table as he poured out steaming cups of tea. "When Josh and I were in Afghanistan, the crazy magi there was convinced that we would eventually discover the path to immortality. Josh studied philosophy. I studied the subtle manipulation of the elements--alchemy."

He waved his hand towards the cups of tea. "Drink up."

Mmm. Tea. Which is totally not poisoned in any way by the subtle manipulator of the elements.

If you drink the tea, you will soon discover that you are completely paralyzed. You can still blink, though.

Biff has decided that it'd be easier to lecture if no one can talk back, and he's now lecturing from the Book of the Divine Elixirs or the Nine Tripods of the Yellow Emperor. It's surprisingly interesting.

Not that you have a choice, if your paralyzed.

And Biff, naturally, has to keep himself entertained while he's lecturing.

So he's painted all of the faces of the paralyzed students bright blue. You look good blue!

Good thing, too. It's going to take about a day for it to wear off.

If you can still talk! Or he can.

Probably after you've been unparalyzed at the end of class.

Biff's canon is crack. If you choose to be paralyzed, Biff will give you the antidote at the end of class and your character will have the feeling of pins-and-needles for about an hour afterwards.

The blue face paint will last for as long as you'd like, but it would stick around for at least a day, depending on the frequency of washings :)

If you choose not to be paralyzed and blue, that's fine, too, but Biff won't let you stick around the class for not following that first instruction.

Seely drank the tea, frowning slightly.

Seely was glaring at Biff...or at least attempting to.

Karal settled on a cushion, legs crossed neatly, and sipped his tea while he listened to Biff.

It was certainly different from Karsite tea.

Karal...couldn't move.

Somehow, he wasn't at all surprised. Vkandis Sunlord, why does he do these things?

He waited patiently - not that he had much choice in the matter - trusting that, no matter how bizarre Biff was, it would wear off.

Or Altra would come back and deal with the problem.

If he could have, Karal would have smiled at that thought. Instead, he just sat there (again, no choice) and let the words wash over him.

Karal spent some time wondering if anything Biff did ever made sense.

And whether or not the blue was going to come off any time soon.

And whether Evey would laugh at him for being blue. Not that he'd mind, he liked it when she laughed, he just needed something to think about.

Because it wasn't like he could move.

Karal for once wasn't banging his head on the desk or trying to hide underneath it. That would be because there was no desk, and he couldn't move.

Also, he was blue.

Sunlord, if you wanted to throw a lightning bolt in his general direction, I'm certain no one would mind, he thought wistfully. Not at him, but if it could hit somewhere close by...

Rikku ... wasn't sure what was going on, or why they were just having tea for once. But hey, okay. Tea. She sipped it and listened, behaving for once.

Rikku would have been making this face, except that Rikku couldn't make this face, being paralyzed and all.

Sure, the one time she trusts the stupid religion class and he pulls this crap.

She would also be seething, if she could seethe.

This was not a happy Al Bhed, here.

"And what was that supposed to prove?" Rikku asked, waving her arms wildly. "That religion is stupid and you should never let your guard down?"
