Applied Inventiontronics, Perid 4 - Week 6
Glitch was at the front of the class again today, and on each desk were a few sheets of clean, un-lined paper and two pencils.
"Today, you're going to be working on the look of your inventions. For the first half of the class, I want you to sketch out a design. It doesn't have to be too detailed, but, the idea is that you'll get a feel for how it will all come together and look when it's done. Remember things like functionality and overall aesthetic appeal."
He smiled reassuringly at them, because this next part he was afraid they wouldn't really like.
"The second half of class, you'll be showing your sketches to your classmates and critiquing each other." There was a stern look before he continued with, "Nicely, please."
A moment, then, as he looked at them a bit expectantly before he realized he hadn't told them yet to begin.
"Oh, uhm, right. Go ahead. Begin!"

Re: First half of class (2/11)
So as soon as he saw Liir look his way, he snuck over and took a seat next to him.
"Hi," he whispered.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"Missed you," he said in place of a greeting.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"I missed you, too," he replied. "It's not nearly as fun waking up when you're not there."
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"Would you mind me staying over tonight?" he asked, feeling a little badly that Andrew kept having to host.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
He didn't want to admit that he had kept waking up last night and reaching out for Liir. He had eventually wound up twisting up his comforter into something roughly Liir shaped, and wrapping his arms around that to fall back asleep.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"I just don't want to impose."
He looked at Andrew for a moment, then at Professor Ambrose at the front of the class.
"I have to talk to him after class for... a minute. But, um, I did have a question, considering."
Re: First half of class (2/11)
He leaned in closer. "Do you want to ask me now?"
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"Just, er, if you'd care to go to the dance. The one for the holiday." He offered a smile.
"I was considering buying tickets, but I didn't want to until I knew you wanted to. I don't dance much, but I'm not half bad. And it seems to be a holiday for, um."
He gave Andrew's hand a squeeze and ran his thumb over the skin of his wrist in a light circle.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"I would love to go with you," he said, nodding rapidly.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"I'll make sure to get tickets today then."
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"So did you do anything fun yesterday?" He had listened to radio, but it, as usual when you're actually listening with intent, was pretty vague.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"Mostly, I went around talking to people about things," he admitted. "And I had my morning lesson with Ino and then the Host Club. We danced there a little, but mostly I was nervous the whole time before Teddy and I talked for a bit. We're all right now."
He thought about it.
"Well, the lesson with Ino was fun, other than making her nervous."
Re: First half of class (2/11)
He had been really worried about that. He had partly talked himself into going to see Teddy, but he couldn't quite get over the fear that he would just be making things worse.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
He looked over at Andrew.
"What about you? What was your day like? I didn't get to listen to the radio last night."
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"I spent some time working on some handouts for the language club, tried to work out some of the lift calculations for my invention, caught up on some reading, thought about you..."
He smiled at that last bit.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"You could have come by, you know. You're always welcome in my room. I just don't like to monopolize your time. Well, I like to, I just don't think I should."
Re: First half of class (2/11)
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"'Do all these cool things'?" he started with. It seemed the most ridiculous of the bunch as he had signed up to quite a few clubs and 'all these friends' might be incendiary. But really, he just liked to be busy.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
Re: First half of class (2/11)
He couldn't even speak because what could you say to something like that? 'No' would be a bit harsh, especially towards Andrew. 'Thank you' might seem to say he accepted what Andrew had said but--
What?
Re: First half of class (2/11)
"I'm not taking it back," he added.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
That was important. He could say that.
Re: First half of class (2/11)
Re: First half of class (2/11)
His hand squeezed Andrew's.
His other hand held onto the broom to make sure it didn't move. And to make sure he didn't float right out of the chair.
