Choosing Your Own Government--Monday, Period 5, Class #6--Crime and Punishment

Vala awaited her class in the Danger Shop, where they had been handwavily informed to meet her. Inside was a set up of a dark, dank, but slightly out-of-date prison complex.

"Good afternoon. Now, I know this is a rather extreme way to prove a point, but whether you're a hereditary monarch, a crazy mass-murdering fuckhead future German Chancellor, an opponent of legal racial inequality, or any number of other political prisoners advocating change, chances are you're going to end up in one of these, at least for a little while. So."

"First, I want you all to choose your own cells." She waited until everyone was settled, then closed the doors and locked them with a metallic clang. "Your goal is to get out of here. Period. How do you do that? In each of those cells are the fully moddable resources you need to get out of the cell, or you can do your time to prove a point and wait for them to release you. Either way, but I need a rationale of who you are, and what you're doing there, then how you plan to get out."

"Think of it as an acting exercise, but the goal here is to understand that government has both the power to lock you up, and the power to set you free, whether for a good reason, or no reason at all. Think about that while you work."

Anemone was quite used to being a guest of the government, thank you very much, although her cell quarters usually had white walls and bolted-down things. Definitely nothing you could pick up, let alone throw or use against someone. Weird government. Must be run by committee or something.
