Library [02/07]

Bridge arrives at the library, a few minutes early as per usual. Also as per usual, he's got a nice big cup of coffee to keep him company.

"Hey, Bridge," said Sky. "I hope I'm not bothering you..." He leaned against the counter, still fighting down that strange urge to bounce.

"Nah," Bridge says, pushing his reading glasses up on to his forehead. "Just reviewing notes from this week. And copying them out so they're neater and easier to read once finals roll around."

"Yeah, I've had to do that a lot," said Sky sheepishly. "When I'm upset, my handwriting goes downhill pretty past." OK, he decided, first things first. "Well, as to why I came here. I told Z yesterday, and I'll say it to you, too. I know I've been... kind of avoiding you two for the past week, in spite of all the times both of you, especially you, have extended offers of friendship, and I have absolutely no excuse for doing that except being a stubborn idiot. So... ...I'm sorry."

"You don't need to apologize, really," Bridge says. "I mean, you've kind of had a lot dumped on you, from all directions," he tilts his head at Sky. "But you *do* seem happier, if you don't mind me saying as much."

Sky nodded. "I appreciate that you understand that. Still, you guys are my friends, and you don't deserve to be given the cold shoulder all the time. And you're right, I am happier... because, ah..." Sky's mind wandered back to last night.

And out came a bounce.

How undignified!

"Ah." He could feel himself going very red.

"...You just *bounced*." Bridge observes. He knows from bouncing, seeing as how "bouncy" is an accurate description of Bridge's state 90% of the time.

Sky went redder in response. Glancing from side to side, he leaned in close to Bridge.

"I had a date last night," he blurted out. As soon as the words were out of his mouth, he felt a little foolish, as he remembered that Bridge had a boyfriend and thus dating was likely old hat to him. Still, first dates didn't happen every day... especially someone like Sky, who hadn't given much thought to such things before.

"Oh yeah?" Bridge says, smiling. "With who?"

"Troy. Troy Bolton. I don't know if you know him," said Sky. "I made friends with him my first day here... he knew I was having a bad week, so he invited me out for pizza. Then we went to see a movie, and they were showing Uber-man Comes Back, which was my favorite movie when I was a little boy..." He trailed off, successfully holding down another bounce. He felt like a completely different person right now, and he kind of liked it.

"Oh! Troy. My roommate helped him dye his hair purple once," Bridge says. "Sounds like the two of you hit it off, then."

Sky's face fell a little at the mention of purple hair, but he quickly composed himself. At least it wasn't that color now. "Yeah... yeah, we did. It was a little awkward at first, admittedly. But it got better as the night went on."

"So, does this mean there'll be at least a second date, then?"

Sky thought about that for a while. "I don't know," he admitted. "I really liked this first one- as you can probably tell- but we didn't talk about going on another one. I didn't even think last night was going to turn into a date until..." He mumbled something about cuddling a little in their seats, feeling awkward speaking about it aloud. "...We'll see, I suppose," he finished.

"I don't know, that seems pretty indicative of the possibility of more dates in the future," Bridge says. "I mean, no one ended up with an ice cream sundae on their head this time."

"Yeah... probably." He then raised an eyebrow. "Ice cream sundae on their head? Dare I ask?"

"Conner McKnight is not quite as smooth as he likes to think he is," Bridge says, rolling his eyes a bit.

Sky remembered Conner's name and smirked. "People like him rarely are," he said. "So Conner came here, too, huh? Other Rangers having been here doesn't surprise me somehow."

"Yeah," Bridge says. "Graduated just last year. He was... a nice guy, but, yeah, with the not smooth. Of course, maybe I shouldn't be saying anything since I'm hardly the definition of smooth but then again I've never had ice cream dumped on my head, so maybe it's all relative."

"I'd say between the two of you, then, you're definitely the smoother one," Sky agreed.
