Today, Inventiontronics was in the Danger Shop. Said Danger Shop looked a lot like a rural 1950's American town. Nice, normal little town, except for that creepy floating dude, and the fact that all the people were robots in various states of disrepair.

The zipperheaded man responsible was standing under the welcome sign, notes in hand, waiting for everyone to gather around.

"Hello, class!" Gosh, he was cheery. "Today, you're going to be repairing the good folks of Milltown. They're all ready and able to tell you how to fix them. Think of it as a walk-through. Ask them whatever questions you need to, they don't bite ~~no matter how angry they look in the icons~~ and are waiting with tools over there."

Glitch pointed over to the main street where six robots, counting the weird floating one, were scattered on steps and porches. Each one had a toolbox sitting near them.

"You can work together, if you like, or work alone. It's up to you. They'll let me know how you did when everyone is finished. Now go on," he started to herd them towards the robot people, "start working!"

"Knees need a bit of oil in the joint sockets and some tendonial wires reattached. Arm needs the muscular function replaced. Neck's got a stuck gear and spinal wires that need to be re-insulated." Beth smiled. "Don't got to do it all, darlin', one part's enough."

"Oh I don't mind," Willow said, giving her a smile. "I'm happy to help. How about we start with the quick stuff, so we can get it out of the way? I'd say knees first."

"Sounds like a fine idea," Beth said, lifting her skirts up enough to show her knees. The casing was already removed, and her legs went abruptly from thigh to skeletal metal parts and exposed wires and then leg again.

She motioned to the toolbox setting next to her. "Things you need for the knees are at the top."

"Thank you," Willow said. She went to get the supplies, then sat down so she could get to work. "My name's Willow, by the way."

"Pretty name, Willow. Nice to meet you."

She kept her legs motionless and pointed to a few disconnected wires on both knees. "All you gots to do is match 'em up by color and click 'em together."

"This I can do," Willow said, going to do just that. "Do you have a name?"

"Beth, hun. Issue 23-20, Entertainment Unit." She gave Willow a wry little smile. "Designed just for dancin' about with the fellas. Don't ever get tired and dance halls don't ever got to close!"

"Very nice to meet you, Beth," Willow said. "That sounds like fun. I enjoy dancing, though I feel I could be better at the formal kind."

"Oh," Beth made a little 'psh' noise through her whirrs. "Formal dancing ain't any fun. Gimmie a fella can swing about and keep his feet moving fast any day."

She peered at Willow's work. "Ready for the oil can, darlin'?"

"I believe so," Willow said. "And I like moving to music too. No worries about doing something horrible like tripping and ruining your gown. You can bop along and have fun."

Beth handed her the oil can and smiled. "Boppin' along and havin' fun was what I was made for, hun. Get these old rusty knees a bit of that and I'll show you some boppin' you ain't never seen."

"How very neat!" Willow said. She applied the oil. "Do you make your own music as well?"

"Naw, music makin' ain't part of my design. Just the dancin' for the 23-20's."

She flexed her legs a little, lifting up her feet and putting them down again a few times.

"Well, ain't that just grand!"

"Would you like to try a few steps to see?" Willow asked.

The gear in her neck didn't let her nod exactly, but it was something similar enough to give the same idea.

With a whirring, Beth stood and took a few steps, smiling.

"Did a good job, darlin'. Thanks."

She gave a little hop and step. "Work just dandy now!"

Willow applauded. "Yay! I feel very accomplished."

"Should, hun!"

Beth did a snazzy little jazz step, whirring, and smiled at Willow.

"Fantastic."
