Gulliver's supervising as she checks in any books that were dropped off overnight.

Anemone had a book (http://www.amazon.com/Art-War-Sun-Tzu-Special/dp/1934255122/ref=pd_bbs_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1201619772&sr=8-4) she had ~~moddedly~~ liberated from John's house, and was writing her own notes (and snide commentary) in the margins.

Aw, screw it. Anemone's abandoned any pretense of librarianship, and has scattered her art supplies over the desk as she busily works on her latest creation.

Peter came into the library to browse for a book on fingerprinting. He gave the drawing librarian a grin but didn't move to disturb her.

Anemone looked up as someone came in. Oh, the TA boy from Tactics, whoise-what's-face. She missed that class. "Hi. Know what you need, or need help to know it?"

"I'm looking for a book on fingerprinting, I think," Peter said easily. He glanced at the desk again. "May I ask what you're drawing?"

"Fingerprinting, huh? Neat. No one's asked for that before." Grinning, Anemone stuck her chalk behind her ear, absently leaving a trail of color as she spun the picture around. "That's incredible," Peter said with a smile. "Your home is beautiful." He tilted his head, studying the picture. "Is it a ship or a castle?"

"We call it a Tower. It's like a castle, very heavily fortified and run by either the local or planetary government, so you've even got royalty of a sort living there. That's the city, at the Tower base. It's an ocean of people, using the Tower as their anchor," Anemone said happily. "That's what it looks like from the air, anyway."

"It's a good description of a government, that," Peter said. "The government should be the people's anchor and protector."

"Anchors can also drag you down," she said dryly. "If you look at the Tower from the ground, all you see is a steel giant that overshadows everything. You could say our previous government was more concerned with domination than protection."

"True enough," Peter agreed. "It's the duty of the ruler to make sure the people are content and protected."

"Protecting through fingerprinting, perhaps?" she teased, "That sounds rather dastardly."

"Speaking of...what kind of fingerprinting books do you need? History or science ones?" Wiping her hands on her towel, Anemone smiled crookedly at him. "I suppose we ought to find you something before the librarian catches me coloring on the walls."

"Protecting through the proper application of the rule of law," Peter corrected, not meaning to sound quite as pompous.

He shook his head and grinned. "Both, please. Err, or one of each. I'm not sure ow one could implement it without all the science this time has so...historical applications might be useful. And I'm sure Miss Next wouldn't mind unless you hurt her precious books? Perhaps?"

"Miss Next wouldn't mind. She might make some comment about me giving Friday bad habits, but as long as I didn't start giving the books new illustrations I would be safe from her wrath. The new librarian, however, I don't know well enough to attempt it."

"Let's see. Anemone jotted down the locations of the two books, as well as a few others for him to browse. "You seem to have great faith in the law to protect, then why are you learning about fingerprinting?"

Peter coughed. "This is where Willow would scold me for not being around the library enough to notice yet."

"I do have faith in the law, but it's not enough to assume it'll continue to do a good job," he replied. "Fingerprinting can help find the correct suspect when other less technical methods fail."

"I think the only students who have noticed are the ones who work here," Anemone replied. "The library doesn't get much business unless there's a crisis, at least not on Tuesdays. It's an exciting day if I have half-a-dozen come through the doors."

"Should we organise a campaign to fill the library more regularly?" Peter asked with a quick grin. "We do have to keep you entertained."

"Then I might not have time to work on my masterpiece. I'm trying to figure out what to paint on the ceiling," she deadpanned as she looked upwards. "Although I suppose the company would be welcome. I get bored easily."

Gulliver made a snort that sounded suspiciously like the panduppy equivalent of 'no kidding', and Anemone shot him a Look. "Oh, shush you."

Peter eyed the pand-puppy-thing with a bit of a smile.

"Well, I'm certain if the Librarian doesn't mind you painting on the books, wy should he mind the ceiling?" he teased.

Robin just kinda wanted to hang out with Anenome. Ooh! Art!

"Whatcha doin'?"

"Hi sweet-Robin!" Clearing a space on the desk, Anemone motioned for him to jump up. "Drawing." Tapping the picture (http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/Outrider42/Eureka%207%20Episode%20Caps/Eureka%207%20Ep%201%20Caps/outriderE7ep01cap016.jpg), she smiled. "Belleforest Tower."

He hopped up and looked at the drawing. "Woooow." he breathed. "That's incredible."

"Cities spring up around the Towers, since they offer protection and communications. Each Tower is an independent city-state, occasionally answering to the planetary government," she said. "They're beautiful from above, like something out of a fairytale of steel and sunlight."

"Is that where you're from?"

"Sort of?" she said, shrugging. "It's from my world, but it's not my actual home. I do have friends that live there."

"Dominic says I'm from the area around Warsaw Tower, but I only remember living aboard various military ships, nothing of civilian life. I'd see them if we were given orders that took us near one, but I never saw one from the ground until last year. I live in the air, not really anywhere. Like a bird!"

"Oh that's kind of cool. I used to imagine what it would be like to be a bird. To be able to fly, and soar above the clouds."

"I'll have to take you home with me sometime, I'd be happy to take you flying," giggling, she bounced in the chair slightly. "There's nothing like it, nothing at all."

"Really?" Robin bounced. "Oh I would love that!"

"We'll go up in an LFO, it's got better maneuverability than a shuttle," she mused. "It's fantastic! Sometimes it feels like you can go higher than the sun, especially when you break through the atmosphere."

Robin really wanted to go. Both for the flying, and getting to spend time with Anenome.

The library is closed, unless you work here or come bearing bribes.

Tea is an acceptable bribe.

Anemone's gone back to her book annotations, but keeps jumping up to pace the library and look out the windows.

She's decided to make her pacing useful, and go wander the stacks for lost or mis-shelved books. Gulliver is at the desk for all your library needs.

It *is* a Tuesday, shouldn't the world be ending?
