Sam had a careful balancing act going on as he tried to hold on to the stack of books he was carrying and unlock the library at the same time.

Sam heard the noise and looked up. "Hi," he said, giving the girl a little wave. "Can I help you?"

"Good morning." Cimorene said noticing the ~~abnormally~~ tall boy behind the counter. "Where are the history books?"

"It depends," he said. "What kind of history are you looking for?"

Cimorene considered the question. "What do you think would be helpful?"

"Are you new around here?" Sam asked. It wasn't hard for him to imagine that being a good reason to look up history.

Cimorene nodded. "One of the new students, and I arrived a week late."
