Library [Sunday, January 13]

Lee was back in the library today, going over a few things from his first week of classes. That lasted all of five minutes before he was kicked back in his chair, staring at the ceiling and thinking of absolutely nothing at all.

"Hmm." He tapped his chin thoughtfully. "I think I can show you a thing or two...but only when you're not expecting it."

With an arched, suspicious eyebrow, Adah watched him carefully as she counted out the seconds between the taps on his chin. "Although," she pointed out, slowly, plottingly, "now that you've said that, I'll be expecting it more than I previously would have."

"But there's still room to surprise you," Lee said, nodding. "You can't always be on your guard. There's still a chance."

"Now this," Adah said, chuckling slightly, "will be interesting. Things have gotten a tad bit boring around here..."

"A ha." He leaned across the counters, eyes bright. "So, you want the excitement of a surprise, huh?"

Ducking her head slightly and meeting a small portion of his lean, Adah grinned back. "Exactly."

"I'll have to see what I can do about that," he promised with a wink. "I have my ways."

"Well," Adah said, her voice dropping, "I guess I'll just have to wait and see, then. I can't exactly ask you, because that'll ruin the attempts, I'm sure. Hopefully the suspense in the meantime won't kill me."

"Hopefully not," he agreed. "Until then, I hope I can still be entertaining to you."

"Hmmm," Adah, looking thoughtful, drew back slightly as she considered it for a moment. "I'm not sure, but you might be able to..."

"You might have to enlighten me," he said, feigning confusion.

Rolling her eyes before she settled them incredulously on the Eel, Adah frowned. "And make it easy for you? Fat chance."

"Hey, some things should be easy," he said, frowning at her.

"Well," Adah reasoned, looking up thoughtfully, "I suppose if you could make a case for that point, I could make it easy."

"You should make it easy," Lee agreed. "Just this once."

"Maybe. Why?"

"Sometimes things are allowed to be easy," he told her. "Doesn't mean they always will be, just sometimes."

"Mmm," Adah said, her thoughtful countenance broken by a light chuckle, "you do make such convincing arguments. You should be a lawyer or something."

She did, however, lean in again, slightly, and carefully. Try as she might, though, she couldn't make it seem smooth and slight, making her cheeks go a little pink at the complete lack of subtly.

"I've thought about it," he told her quietly, leaning a little closer himself. "Don't know if I ever could keep my feet on the ground but I've thought about it."

Making another soft sound, Adah grinned at the Eel and ducked her forehead toward his. "True; you probably would make a better pilot."

And Lee let his forehead lightly touch hers, a small smile on his face. "I talk enough to be a lawyer, though."

Adah's smile broadened, her laugh light and quiet. "That's very true." He wasn't talking as much today, and that was just fine with Adah. She was getting a little tired of talking anyway and, well, since she was already there, she concluded her point with a slight shifting to kiss him. She was surprised it took her this long to even get to that part.

Kissing and not talking was just fine with Lee as evidenced by how he leaned closer, how he brushed a few fingers across her cheek.

Adah allowed herself to languidly linger in the light ~~alliterated~~ kiss before she slowly, reluctantly pulled back to point out, "This? Is a pretty good hint for that whole entertainment issue we discussed earlier, by the way." Promptly, her piece said, she leaned in to continue where she left off with the kissing.

"You're so easy to entertain," he mumbled before closing that last bit of distance and sliding his lips along her, smiling against her mouth and sighing quietly.
