Her first library shift of the new year, and Mac has a brand new toy to keep her entertained today.

She also has coffee.

Mac is one seriously cheerful geek right about now.

She's rocking out to something on her headphones while she stacks up library card applications.

Mmm, salad as usual.

The library is open to aides and the librarian.

Mac's moved on from library card application stacking to actual book stacking. She's still humming along to that music, though.

And she is back!

And there was a librarian!

He had a few... supplies to put in the office after reading over the instructions about the Special Collections.

Upon seeing Mac, he nodded politely.

Mac smiled, raising a hand back in greeting as she finished her mouthful.

She stood once she had, moving her food to the side. "Can I help you with anything?"

He stopped, looking over the rows. "I think you can, young miss. Are you one of the aides here?"

"Yep." Mac nodded, moving around to the front of the desk.

"Are you the new librarian?" she asked. She was rather assuming he was, seeing as he must have a key.

"That would be me, yes. And you are...?"

"Oh. Right. I'm Mac," she told him in return, holding out a hand towards him. "Your Saturday aide."

"A pleasure to meet you, Mac," He said, managing to sound pretty damn genuine about it. "There is one for all the days, correct?"

"There is," Mac confirmed with a little nod. "Or, there certainly was last semester. I don't think any of us have left or anything."

"Excellent." He smiled at her again. "I will have to meet them over the next week. Thank you, Mac."

"No problem," Mac returned. "Is there anything else you want me to help with?"

He shook his head, walking toward the office. "Not at the moment. Thank you for your help, though."

"Alright." Mac nodded, watching him go into the office, before turning to go back to the desk and finish off her lunch.

Someone wants more books than he brought with him. He's wandering in the stacks, and eventually comes to the same one Mac's in.

Mac caught sight of the movement out of the corner of her eye, and tugged her headphones from her ears as she balanced her pile of books.

She smiled at him. "Anything I can help you with?"

"I was just checking out what you've got", he said casually. "Looks like it's pretty good."

"This library's kinda awesome," Mac agreed. "Didn't have anything this good where I used to go to school."

"You one of the new people?"

"Yep. Just got in yesterday." He offered a hand, a little awkwardly - he knew it was expected but wasn't exactly a social wiz. "Michael."

Mac juggled her book stack around into one arm, and took his hand with her now free one.

"I'm Mac," she said in return. "And uh, welcome."

"Thanks." He returns her smile crookedly, shaking hands. "You been here long?"

"Two years... yesterday," Mac said after a moment of thought. "Scary, huh?"

"Really kind of is." It was a joke, though. "You really like it here, huh?"
