"I'm more inclined to appreciate the cheer team than ever aim to be on it," Reno replied dismissively, inclining his chin as he gave the crazy, bouncy girl another look-over. Maybe none of the cheerleaders on this island knew how to dress themselves. Given that she was wearing short-shorts, he was suddenly hoping that such would be the case.

And, because he had to ask. Had to.

"Dare I ask what one does on a naked mutiny, yo?"

"I'm sure you'd do great," Rikku said reassuringly, missing his point entirely. "It's more about having fun than anything, you know? And naked mutinies are when you all strip down and redecorate the vice-principal's office with, like, little pony figurines and posters that say "Some-bunny wuvs you" and other crap that's going to make his hair turn bright red. Except the first time I think it was glitter and boykissy posters? The first one just kinda happened, anyway."

"Boykissy must be some kinda fixation around here. You're the second student I've talked to today, and you're the second one to bring it up, yo." Rude was not going to be hearing about boykissy. He'd never live it down.

"It's something to do with the glitter," she said with a shrug. "There was a girlkissy party, back when Umbridge was here? Kind of a protest-y thing. But I didn't go, 'cause J--" Rikku made a face. "Just seemed like a bad idea."

Reno made a face at the face that Rikku made.

"Got it. Bad idea." Some freak at the party, or maybe some spark she didn't want to talk about. Whatever. Reno didn't particularly care, so he wasn't going to push the topic. "You seem to be real big on the mutinies and protests, yo. Got a lot to say, hm?"

"Just not so hot on authority," she shrugged. "Here, follow our religion and don't think, we'll do it for you. Wow, how could anyone have guessed those people were evil? I mean, I'm shocked."

Fantastic job, Reno. Lead the conversation into murky territory.

"Ah. Issues with spiritual freaks. I hear that. They come complete with freaky cult-chants, too? Gotta love that type, yo."

"Nah, this was more of a standardized deal." Rikku shrugged again. "Lots of temples, lots of followers, some of them were okay, the rest thought that we were killing babies or some crap, and all of it was a bunch of lies anyway."

She waved it off. "Doesn't matter. Sorry. Last thing you care about is me rambling about weird stuff from somewhere else."

Huh. Crazy girl seemed to have a good idea about how real life worked, too. That was interesting.

"I'm here to learn about other places," he mused, "but I'm not gonna drill you or anything." Now was as good a time for a change of topic as any. "Name's Reno, by the way. Don't think I gave it to you while I was sitting on my ass on the ground."

"You don't wanna know about Spira," she said, shaking her head. "It sucked. The end. I'm Rikku. Wait, no, I told you that, when you were calling me Yoto." She blinked at him curiously. "Who's Yoto?"

"Uh." Wow. Nobody had ever actually asked him about that, before. "Isn't a person, or even a thing, really. I just say it, yo. Kinda... rolls off the tongue, zoto."

Along with 'zoto.' Sounded nice, didn't it?

"You just ... made up words?" Rikku said, tilting her head at him curiously. "That's kinda weird, isn't it?"

Not that she could really say much about "weird."

"Nobody ever pointed it out until now. Been saying 'em so long they're habit mostly." A smirk crept across Reno's lips. "They don't mean anything. They aren't hurtin' anyone, yoto."

"Never said they were," she announced airily. "Doesn't make it less weird, yoto. Or are those words for just-you?"

Reno shrugged and snorted a bit at that.

"You wanna pass 'em around, I'm not gonna stop you." He smirked faintly. "But nobody's ever gonna make 'em sound as good as I do, yo."

Rikku rolled her eyes. "Are you always this cocky?"

"Sometimes I'm worse."

She huffed. "Men."

That particular response earned Rikku a slightly inclined eyebrow and a rather bemused smile.

"What about 'em?"

Rikku narrowed her eyes. "You know. You all think you're so awesome and look-how-cool-I-am. I got to take Sokka back to the Omega Ruins with me, and he was all "Pfft, if YOU can handle it, I sure can." Yeah, right. He got his butt kicked. 'Cause hey, just 'cause he's A GUY and I look like this doesn't mean I couldn't freaking mop the floor with him."

This was, yes, a sore point.

"Saying 'zoto' has something to do with some dumbass who couldn't handle a bunch of ruins?" The eyebrow was going to stay raised for a while, here. "I know better than to think girls can't get the job done, yo. Worked with some of the finest."

There came that smirk again.

"But I can still say 'yoto' better."

"No," Rikku said, eyerolling. "It's the whole cocky 'I'm better than you at everything just 'cause I say I am' deal. And it's not just that I'm a girl, it's that I'm, you know. Tiny, and hyper, and whatever, so nobody expects the concealed Glock." This got a pout. "Which is in the freaking weapons locker. So. Lame."

"I'm not exactly fond of the weapons locker, either. They put a scratch in my materia, and I'm gonna bust someone's face in." Bitter point? Yes. Yes it was.

Rikku's expression got very, very serious. "They have my Godhand in there. My Godhand is an ancient, legendary weapon that was intended for me and only me to save the freaking world, and it is far more badass than anything has a right to be, and it is my favorite possession ever. I should be able to sleep with it under my freaking pillow if I want to. Because if they so much as look at it wrong, I am going to freak out."

Now here was a girl who liked her weapons. Reno could come to respect that.

"My mag-rod and I have been through way too much shit together." He rubbed at his left wrist and scowled. "Feel naked without it cuffed there, yo."
