"I fail to see how that's any of your concern," Max said cooly. She wouldn't kick his ass unless he really provoked her, since, you know, she wanted to actually stick around and check this place out while she looked for Seth.

Oooh, hello! The light came on. Johnny was feeling pretty much like an idiot now. "Uh, sorry. This whole dimension thing - I sort of forget about it sometimes. You look exactly like my sister, though the hair is different." He shook his head, embarrassed, and thrust out his hand. "I'm Johnny Storm, junior, not a new student."

Dimension thing? Max wasn't sure what he meant by that. "Max Guevara. New student. Also a junior." At least that's what she was pretty sure they told her when she registered. It sounded right.

She was stuck on the part where she looked like his sister though. Did she have a clone out there? Maybe this was Seth, going by a different name.

"Max? That short for Maxina or something?" Johnny was so smooth. "Whereya from, Max?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's short for Max," she replied. "I came out here from LA on my bike."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"You've got a bike?" Biker chicks were so hot!

Oh my god, a Sue look alike was not hot. Maaaan!

"Uh, I've got a bike too. You into Supercross, motocross?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Max wasn't entirely sure what Supercross and motocross were... but she figured it was a safe bet she wasn't into them.

"No, just into riding it," she said. "It's a wonderful piece of machinery."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Think I can check it out one day? I've got mine parked in the garage and you're welcome to do the same. Supercross is awesome! I've got a competition coming up in a couple weeks..." he might have trailed off about said competition for a few minutes before realizing he was rambling.

"What brings you here to Fandom, Max?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's a garage? Oh good," Max said. "I was wondering what I could do with my bike."

She listened and nodded to Johnny's rambling but his question caught her off guard.

"I'm... trying a new experience," she said. It worked and it wasn't exactly a lie since she had never really had formal schooling.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep, keep her parked in there and you can pretty much ride her when you want." Johnny's bike was a female. What? All bikes were females.

"A new experience, eh? Well, Max, I think you've come to the right place for new experiences. Are you a superhero? A witch? Got some sort of supernatural powers?"

His questions immediately put Max on guard. Was this some kind of Manticore trap? Her hand automatically went to the back of her neck, though she tried to cover the gesture by smoothing her hair. "What makes you think I'm not just a normal teenage girl?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"You could be, Max. Just making general conversation here. People are usually curious about each other here. Like... so... " He just had to show off. Snapping his fingers, he lit up his hand.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Max stared. Had Manticore expanded their genetics program?

"How do you do that?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cool huh?" he grinned. "Long story, but the short of it is, is that my body was genetically affected by a cosmic storm. This isn't anything. Let me show you... " He totally didn't anticipate showing off today. Nope. His firesuit is just very fashionable.

"Flame on!" And his whole body lit up.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Max was duly impressed. Also a little confused.

"You can do that because of a cosmic storm? Was it an accident?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, it was. Four, no five, of us were affected," he shrugged, talking to her while enflamed. "I'm a celebrity at home. A superhero if you will," yeah, he was smirking. "I can fly and go supernova but I don't. That would be bad."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. That was... curious. Max really wanted to get more in depth about the genetic anomolies and all, but she figured that might blow her cover.

"That's really interesting."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He smiled and extinguished himself. "Yep. So... you have any special talents, Max?" he asked again, curious.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Max smiled. "Not really."

Lucky for her, subterfuge was one of her many hidden talents.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Consider yourself a doppelganger," he smirked. "Sue would freak if she saw you."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"I take it your sister doesn't go to school here?" Max asked.

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"No," he said. "She's older and perfect," god. "I'm apparently the rebel who needed straightening up so I got sent here. Everyone seems to have a story behind why they're here. You say experience is yours?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Max shrugged. "I was living with some friends in LA. I decided I needed a change."

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
And there was a story there, he was sure of it. No matter, he really wasn't the nosey type. "You've got yourself a fake big sib yet?"

Re: General Mingling

[identity profile] my-names-max.livejournal.com 2008-01-04 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, they said some girl named Lana would show me the ropes," Max said.
