Library [12/17]

Sam was moving a little slower than normal this morning, thanks to the flag football game yesterday. Of course, the fact that he was carrying a stack of books that was a third of his height might not be helping matters much.

Sam got all of his books checked in first, and then went to check in everyone else's.

With his Comparative Religions final next period, there was nothing Sam could think about doing but last minute studying.

The library was closed while Sam was off taking his final.

The library was closed for lunch to everyone except Thursday, the other aides, and Dean.

Now that his final was over, Sam was able to focus on other things, like checking his e-mail.

Sam took a long, slow sweep through the library to make sure he had everything cleaned up before he locked up.

Jamie waved at Sam as he came in. "Sam? Where do you keep the history books covering Dijon mustard?"

Meg came in with a holiday-themed bag containing practically every cookie she knew how to make. Chocolate chip, sugar, snickerdoodles, peanut butter, oatmeal, gingerbread. She probably needed to get a hobby.

"Merry Christmas!" she said cheerfully, setting the bag on the counter. "These are for you."

Sam stared at Jamie for a moment, trying to figure out how serious he was. "Um, I don't know if there's a whole book about that, but I might be able to find you a book on the history of some foods in general?"

Sam grinned as he took the bag and peered inside. "Oh wow. Thank you!" he said. "These look great."

"Thanks. I made them yesterday before the football game." she said. She chewed on her lower lip for a second. "You're not like, hurting or anything from that are you? Cause I can totally beat Dean up if you want."

"You mean in all the books in this place I can't find a single book about the history of mustard?" Jamie asked dubiously. "I thought this library had everything."

"No, I'm okay," Sam said, trying not to look as sore as he felt. "If you want to beat Dean up anyway, you can go right ahead."

"It does," Sam said quickly. "Um, there's cookbooks and books about food down here," he added, pointing to one of the bookcases. "Maybe there's something on mustard?"

"I'll totally do it." she said with a mock look of determination on her face.

"Thank you Sam!" Jamie said wandering off. "You're a gentleman and a scholar."

"This will be perfect. Also what color do you think mustard is? Do you think it is yellow or dark yellow?"

Ino showed up, and looked around briefly before heading over to the desk. "Um, hi, I was wondering if you could point me to any books that'd mention what sort of flowers are associated with Christmas?" Pause. "Assuming there are any, of course."

"Can I watch?" Sam asked, with a grin. "That's something I don't think I'd want to miss."

"I think most mustards are dark yellow," Sam said, pleasantly surprised that Jamie found a book. "Unless they have other stuff in them. That usually makes them regular yellow for some reason."

"THANK YOU!" Jamie exclaimed. "Finally! Someone who believes me!"

"Oh, definitely." she said. "You can help out if he manages to overtake me. But I doubt that'll happen since I'm so good at beating people up."

Sam's face lit up, and for a moment, he thought about just telling her all the different Christmas flowers he could think of. But, then he realized how boring that might be for her, and went looking in the computer instead.

"I know we have at least one book about that," he said, grinning when he found what he was looking for. He led Ino back into the stacks, and pulled a book off of the shelf. "Will this do?"

Ino flipped through it, looking delighted, "This'll be great, thanks!" She grinned at him, "My parent's, well, mostly my Mom, own a flowershop back home, so I'm always interested in this sort of stuff."

"That's cool," Sam said, sounding genuinely impressed. "I bet they do a lot of business around the holidays?"
