Library [12/13]

Bridge makes his way to the library in time to get it ready for opening. There's an extra bounce in his step today. It could be that finals are just around the corner. It could be that today's his anniversary with Xander. It could be both.

...it's totally both. Dork.

Finals are next week, so first period finds Bridge sipping at his coffee as he reads through a semester's worth of notes.

Second period, he's got notes and books spread all over the counter as he reviews... well, everything.

Now he's put the notes away for a bit and is concentrating on doing actual library work like processing returns, reading glasses still perched precariously on top of his head.

Anakin had a promise to keep to River, so he sucked up his pride and walked into the library.

"Bridge," he said quietly. "River says you have a word for me."

"Hey, Anakin," Bridge says. "She does?" Judging from Kerrigan's visit last week, he's pretty sure he knows what this is about, but he still feels like he needs to make sure.

Anakin nodded. "I was supposed to ask earlier but...plague."

"Understandable," Bridge says, his expression solemn. "Before I tell you, though, I need you to- can you prove she asked you?"

Anakin looked more than a little impatient. "How else would I know to ask you, Bridge? I don't come down here for small talk."

"Well, no," Bridge says. "But it's called a secret for a reason, you know? And I wouldn't be very trustworthy if I just told anyone who asked," he adds, telling Anakin the same thing he'd told Kerrigan.

"Do you want a medal or a cookie or something?" Anakin asked scathingly. "I don't have the patience to be yanked around by a teenager on a power trip. I can find out from Kerrigan instead."

Well, it *is* almost lunchtime. But he's already brought cookies of his own, anyway. "I can see that," Bridge says, unperturbed by Anakin's tone. "Eta kooram nah smech."

"If that's not the word, we're done here," Anakin said, glaring.

"No, that's it," Bridge says. "Technically speaking, I suppose it's more of a phrase than a word, but there you go."

Anakin nodded and strode back out of the library.

Thank yous, apparently, were for other people.

Lunch! No coming in unless you work here. Well. Perhaps if you ask nicely.

Fourth period, he's out and about in the stacks, reshelving books.

And Bridge spends fifth period doing the usual tidying before closing.

I... totally meant to wake up earlier, today, ugh. I guess I needed more sleep than I thought!

Xander: Almost As Fun As Finals!

They are the same amount of fun! Just on different scales.
