"I trust you all completed your childcare assignments to my satisfaction," Anakin said from his position behind his desk.

Why yes, he was going to blow right past the part where he'd been an action figure last week.

"Today you will tell me--in detail--what you learned from your experiences with parenthood. Next week will be your final exam. I'll try not to kill you."

He could be joking. With Anakin it was really hard to tell.

"Rather than respond to that, maybe you'd tell me what I get to try not to die while doing during the final next week?" Because John's real reply to Anakin's somment wasn't very nice or smart.

"I can do that," John nodded, not that he'd made the choice to do his extra homework over the last week. But he wasn't about to mention that.

"Speaking of which, how is your assignment from me progressing?" Anakin asked. "The twins were programmed to sleep if you were reading to them from it."

He was a petty, petty man.

John's jaw dropped. "...You couldn't have mentioned that before?"
