Library; Wednesday [ 12/12 ]

Clutching the tea that she's finding herself increasingly dependent on with the decrease in temperature, Adah limped in to open the library, with enough time to get a decent pile of books back into their places before officially getting things started for the day and settling behind the desk. She even bothered to put the books in the proper places today, if only, merely because she can.

Adah swore her lower lip was going to bleed from all this biting down on it in attempts to keep herself from laughing, her face filling with red from the effort.

"Do send him my congratulations and good wishes."

Whimpers, and awkward waving of arms, and then a long-suffering sigh. Evie peeped up at Adah from behind her rather disordered hair, and wondered, "Do you think they'll want to move to London? Or here?"

Adah's head tilted. Now there was an interesting question.

"I highly doubt my mother will want to travel again. The last baby she took to a foreign country died, after all. She'll not be wanting to go through that again."

"Oh, how horrible for her." Evie sighed and looked doleful. "Which means Jonathan here. Or there. In the States. Good heavens, how on Earth is he going to get a job? He's not suited for anything!"

"He can always help Orleanna in her roadside fruit stand," Adah pointed out. "How is he at floral arrangements?"

This whole conversation was actually making Adah a little disappointed that she actually hadn't met Jonathan. It would add a whole level of amusement to it, she was certain.

"Rather hopeless. Albeit enthusiastic," Evie admitted in dismay. "He'd be happy to help, but he has absolutely no taste. Oh, this is going to be a Disaster!"

You could actually hear the capital D she put on that.

"Well, with that attitude, it will be."

Evie looked abashed, then blushed. "You're quite right. You're right. This is a happy thing, no matter how much trouble it causes! And, and, they'll have lots of help from us, and my parents, and I'm sure we can all work something out and have a lovely christening and baby shower and everything." Evie nodded firmly. "Right then. As soon as your mother gives her permission, I'll write to my brother, straight off. Possibly sending him a bottle of rum with it to cushion the news."

Adah had to duck her head a moment to hide her grinning; she hoped that the E Ive would take it as just being overwhelmed with the situation, lips pressed together and her head bobbing, eyes watering from the effort but perhaps it could seem to be out of emotion.

"I will certainly keep you updated."
