Sam leaned in a little more, lowering his voice. "My dad talked to Dean and I yesterday. He's gonna propose to Principal Washburn for Christmas."

"Really? That's great!" Peter said, whispering as well. He looked at Sam, concerned. "This is great, right? You're for it?"

"Yeah, totally," Sam said, grinning. "I've never really had a mother-type person before. It's kind of exciting. If she says yes, of course."

"She'd be nuts not to," Peter said. "And mothers are good. I've always liked mine."

"I don't know, you've met my dad," Sam said. "And you are in no position to talk about what your own mother is like."

"You know somebody who knows her better?" Peter countered.

Sam had to shrug, and shake his head. "No, I guess I don't."

"My point stands," Peter said. "And I still say moms are great, even if you're not lucky enough to have mine."

"I think Dean and I will be almost as lucky," Sam said. "It's kind of weird thinking about my dad wanting to get married though."

"I can understand that," Peter said. He took a sip of his coffee. "I know someday Ma's going to want to find somebody, and when the time comes I hope I can give her the support she needs. But thinking of that right now? No way."

"That makes sense. It hasn't been that long for you guys," Sam said. "Honestly, even though it's been years for my dad, it still feels a little weird."

"How's Dean taking it?" Peter asked.

"He seemed pretty excited about it, although I think he's more looking forward to being related to the principal," Sam said.

Peter laughed. "Yeah, that would come in handy. 'course then again maybe that means she'd keep a closer eye on him. Make sure he sets a good example."

"He is the older one, after all. He should be setting a good example for me and Grace," Sam said.

"Heck, the rest of the student body," Peter said. "I think you should mention that to him."

Sam laughed. "Oh yeah, I'm sure that would go over very well."

"Can I watch?"

"Sure. It would probably be smart to have someone with healing powers around."

Peter chuckled. "Hey, the invisibility can be shared too."

"Ooh, I'll have to keep that in mind," Sam said around a mouthful of donut. "That could come in very handy."

"One of these days I'll have to use that for something other than making people spit up their coffee," Peter said.

"I'm sure that there are practical, helpful uses for that power. And hey, it's not dangerous, so you can practice all you want."

"Helpful I've found, dunno if I'd say practical," Peter said with a grin.

"Helpful's a good start," Sam replied. "The practical might come along later."
