Anakin stalked into the room and slammed the door shut behind him.

"Today we talk about wrath," he said. Ignore the pointed look he gave John Sheppard. Really.

"There's something very human about giving in to our temper," he said. "It's freeing, uncomplicated."

He paused. "At least at that moment. The repercussions are always waiting."

He waved a hand and the holoprojector flipped to life. Frozen in time was a young Jedi with two lightsabers at the neck of an older, clearly defeated enemy.

"This was me," he said, pointing at the young man. "And that older man was evil and threatened my family. It didn't make the choice I made--to kill him while he knelt there--any less wrong."

He looked around the classroom making eye contact with every student before continuing. "Wrath is very, very tempting. It urges you to listen to that dark little voice inside of you--to cut loose, live without consequences."

He pointed at the holo again. "There are always consequences. This moment has stayed with me, made me the person I am. It wasn't a positive influence."

Anakin stopped pacing. "What would it take for you to get to that hazy edge? And more importantly, how do you stop yourself from giving in?"

Holding out the datapad, he realized he probably should've asked how much progress he was expected to make.

"You haven't made enough progress," Anakin told him snippily.

That would have been Anakin's response if John had made it through the entire list.

"Somehow I expected that response," John said. "I guess I'll just have to work harder." As if that would happen.

Anakin shot him a sour look. "That would be an excellent plan."

"I'll be sure to spend the entire weekend on it," John assured him.

"And the days leading up to it," Anakin replied flatly.

"Today and tomorrow? Oh yeah, It's the first thing on my to do list," John lied. Badly.

Anakin slapped his hand down on his desk. "Impudent child, don't think about lying to me again."

He knew better than to mess with Anakin. And yet. "I wouldn't have to be impudent if you were at all realistic. Or told me your expectations."

The glare Anakin was giving John had normally been enough to make Padawans take a few steps back. "My expectations are fairly self-explanatory," he said, carefully enunciating. "Instead of behaving like a moronic, wounded bantha, you spend every waking moment you aren't in class or studying for your classes on my assignment."

Realistic? Eh, not so much. Anakin wouldn't know realistic if it beat him over the head.

Unphased given how frequently Anakin glared and/or yelled at him, John raised an eyebrow. "What's a bantha?"

"Smelly elephant. More hair," Anakin said in a clipped voice. "They're all over Tatooine."

"Well, now I'm offended," John replied, wounded because he was neither smelly nor hairy. Okay, maybe a little hairy. "And I'm not sulking about like some injured animal."

Anakin snorted. "Sure you are."

John frowned, "I don't think I'm acting much differently than usual." He wasn't sure he liked what that could imply.

"I bailed you out of jail a few days ago," Anakin pointed out. "That's normal?"

"Well, no," John acknowledged. "But it's not sitting around, licking my wounds."

"Banthas don't generally lick their wounds either," Anakin said. "They stampede uselessly into things instead."

Very helpful, Anakin. Really.

"Thanks," John deadpanned. "I'll be sure to avoid your neighborhood when I stampede around town."

"Go away now," Anakin commanded.

"Your wish is my command," John chuckled before backing away slowly.
