Ethics [Thursday, November 29, 1st period]

Anakin stalked into the room and slammed the door shut behind him.

"Today we talk about wrath," he said. Ignore the pointed look he gave John Sheppard. Really.

"There's something very human about giving in to our temper," he said. "It's freeing, uncomplicated."

He paused. "At least at that moment. The repercussions are always waiting."

He waved a hand and the holoprojector flipped to life. Frozen in time was a young Jedi with two lightsabers at the neck of an older, clearly defeated enemy.

"This was me," he said, pointing at the young man. "And that older man was evil and threatened my family. It didn't make the choice I made--to kill him while he knelt there--any less wrong."

He looked around the classroom making eye contact with every student before continuing. "Wrath is very, very tempting. It urges you to listen to that dark little voice inside of you--to cut loose, live without consequences."

He pointed at the holo again. "There are always consequences. This moment has stayed with me, made me the person I am. It wasn't a positive influence."

Anakin stopped pacing. "What would it take for you to get to that hazy edge? And more importantly, how do you stop yourself from giving in?"

The glare Anakin was giving John had normally been enough to make Padawans take a few steps back. "My expectations are fairly self-explanatory," he said, carefully enunciating. "Instead of behaving like a moronic, wounded bantha, you spend every waking moment you aren't in class or studying for your classes on my assignment."

Realistic? Eh, not so much. Anakin wouldn't know realistic if it beat him over the head.

Unphased given how frequently Anakin glared and/or yelled at him, John raised an eyebrow. "What's a bantha?"

"Smelly elephant. More hair," Anakin said in a clipped voice. "They're all over Tatooine."

"Well, now I'm offended," John replied, wounded because he was neither smelly nor hairy. Okay, maybe a little hairy. "And I'm not sulking about like some injured animal."

John frowned, "I don't think I'm acting much differently than usual." He wasn't sure he liked what that could imply.

"I bailed you out of jail a few days ago," Anakin pointed out. "That's normal?"

"Well, no," John acknowledged. "But it's not sitting around, licking my wounds."

"Banthas don't generally lick their wounds either," Anakin said. "They stampede uselessly into things instead."

"Thanks," John deadpanned. "I'll be sure to avoid your neighborhood when I stampede around town."

"Your wish is my command," John chuckled before backing away slowly.
