Sam had very fond memories of working in the library during high school. When he remembered it was Monday, the day he'd usually had his shift, he headed down to the library and situated himself behind the desk with a small stack of books, and a look that dared anyone to try to get him to leave.

"Dawn's kinda in the business already," Dean pointed out.

"Which means she's already in enough danger all on her own," Sam pointed out in return.

"So by that logic, older me should send Alec and the kid packing," Dean said. "And Dad should totally dump Zoe."

"It's different for you guys," Sam explained. "I can't watch people I care about get hurt. I just can't. And if that means missing out on a relationship, then it's a price I'm willing to pay."

"Okay, I know that older me can't be sitting back and letting you think that," Dean insisted.

"No, older you sounds almost exactly like you do now," Sam replied. "I just ignore him too."

"Dude, you're totally being a bad example to your nephew."

Sam laughed. "He knows better than to not listen to you."

"Guess that puts him one up on you then, huh?" Dean said with a smirk.

"I listen to you when it's important," Sam said. "Getting laid isn't that important in the grand scheme of things."

Dean shook his head. "It's more than just getting laid, Sammy."

"Hey, you said it yourself - I have our family. I don't need anyone else," Sam said.

"So how often do you drive older me to drink?"

Sam laughed. "About as often as you drive me to drink, so I think it's fair."
