Communication - Thursday, Period 5

"As I told you last week, this week's class is about public speaking. Public speaking is an important part of communication in that it trains you to organise your thoughts effectively and allows you practice at speaking in front of people you otherwise wouldn't be comfortable with.

If you haven't prepared your speech and can't get it done by the time it's your turn to speak, then this week you'll be getting a lesson in improvisation. If you have a serious problem with this assignment, I'll be at the back of the room. Feel free to come and speak with me."

Carmela gives a speech on how various alien cultures from her Universe view chocolate. Depending on who you talk to, chocolate can be more than just a delicious snack food- for some it's a controlled substance, for others it's a collectors item. One point she's sure to make is that if you go off exploring other planets, bring some chocolate- still in the wrapper of course, since mint condition is always preferable- to use as a bargaining tool. If you find yourself being chased by, say, a team of bounty hunters? That bar of Valrhona Caraïbe Grand Cru? Might just save your life.
