Fandom Invasions Class #9 (Thursday period 3)

When the class entered the Danger Shop, they found themselves standing on the grounds around the school.

"Good morning," John said. "Last week was about zombies, this week we're going to be covering an invasion that was outside my own expertise. Which just goes to prove that no matter what you're used to dealing with, eventually in Fandom you're going to run into something completely outside your experience.

"For me, that was when we were invaded by dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. I never dealt with them before, but I took what I did know and applied it to that situation, with the result being that I have the makings of a saber tooth catskin rug if I wanted one." John grinned.

"So today's about using what you've learned in facing the other threats we've studied in this class, as well as any personal experience you have to deal with Fandom's version of a blast from the past."

"Hey."

Within a beat, her worried look dissolved into a sarcastic shell.

"Try not to get hurt this time."

"It's not like I do it on purpose!" Peter replied.

Claire scoffed.

"Like you didn't love the attention!"

"Ahem?" Peter said, quirking his eyebrows up. "Which one of us is a cheerleader again?"

Claire gasped.

Well, it was almost a laugh.

"That is not about the attention!"

"Of course not," Peter said, nodding sagely. "You'd never want anybody to look at a cheerleader. They're too shy for that."

She frowned, and the hand not holding a baseball bat moved to punch him in the arm.

"That's not the point."

Peter rubbed his arm where she'd punched him. "Ow!" he said, like a totally whiny baby.

Claire rolled her eyes.

"That didn't hurt," she remarked, whether it did or not.

"You hit me," Peter countered. Because as a little brother he was completely prepared to argue the grave injustice of the principle of the thing.

"Like a punch from a cheerleader could really hurt?"

Older sisters are always ready to argue back.

"So you're admitting you are a total wimp who hits like a girl?"

Claire gasped again.

"I am a girl!"

"A-ha!" Peter said, smugly.

This was definitely taking his mind off of any dinosaur related emo.

Which Claire would say was the whole point.

It wasn't, but she'd totally claim it was.

"A-ha what?"

"You agreed with me."

"That I was a girl," she pointed out dryly.

"And therefore you hit like one."

"And you're a wuss if you claim it hurts."

Claire smirked.

Peter gave her sad, soulful eyes.

Claire laughed in his face.

"That look doesn't work on me."

"Damn." Peter snapped his fingers in disappointment. "I'll have to try harder."

Claire nodded sagely.

"See that you do."

Peter snickered. "So - I've got a date tomorrow."

As clearly talking about the class topic was just not happening.

"No way!"

Claire grins.

"Who with?"
