Meg came in around fourth period to grab the school's copy of ~~meta'd~~ Pride and Prejudice. Yes, she's read it a thousand times but a thousand and one wasn't going to hurt anything.

Dean was about to leave after sharing lunch with his brother, but paused when he saw Meg come in. "Hey," he said with a pleased smile. "Fancy running into you here."

"Hey!" she said. "I'm just grabbing a book to keep myself occupied and away from the TV when I don't have class. You visiting Sam?"

"Yeah. Vala didn't show so he had to teach Religions today and I figured he needed someone to help him stop flailing over it."

"Yikes. I could never teach a class." Meg said. "He did okay, right? He seems like he'd be a good teacher."

"Yeah, he did fine. Which I even told him after I got my big brotherly teasing in." Dean grinned. "Had to do that first of course."

"Of course." she said, smirking. "It's your right as a big brother."

"Damn straight." Dean's grin turned a little softer. "I had a good time last night."

"I did too." she said, smiling. "I like being with you."

"Me too. I like you a lot and kinda wanna spend a lot more time with you." He took a deep breath. "But there's some things you need to know first."

"What things?" she asked worriedly.

"You need to know where I'm coming from and the....ah... commitments I already have. If we are going to get more serious, I want it to be because you're okay with what I can offer," Dean said with as sincere an expression as he could manage. "You know Alec?"

"I never met him but I think I've heard his name on radio." Meg said. The worried expression on her face wasn't going to leave anytime soon. "Are you sort of, um, committed with him?"

Dean huffed a soft laugh. "Alec's... complicated. We're doubles -- like you and Jo. That's why I thought my name was Alec the amnesia weekend -- I found some pictures of him and thought they were me." He took another deep breath as he tried to come up with words to explain he and Alec's relationship. "Alec's my best friend. Hell, he's practically family in all but name. We're... close. And that includes, y'know, being physically close."

He paused for a second but continued hopefully before Meg could get the wrong idea about that. "But we're not exclusive. Never have been and with Alec I don't think we would ever will be."

"Oh. I see." she said, nodding. She was silent for a moment, not at all sure of what to say. "Where's Alec now?"

"He's off doing something dangerous that hopefully won't end up getting him captured or killed. Hopefully, he'll come back safe and sound so I can tell him what an idiot he is for taking off alone." Dean stopped himself before he could go into full on rant mode about Alec taking off; now wasn't the time or the place.

Getting himself back on track he said, "I like you a lot Meg and I do want to continue hanging out -- dating -- and maybe get more serious. But I'll understand if this thing with Alec is a dealbreaker for you."

"I'm glad you told me the truth." she said. A lot of other guys probably would have just not told her something like this. "You sure Alec won't be pissed about you and me when he comes back?"

Dean nodded. "Alec's whole view of a lot of things is kinda unique. There's things that'll make him pissed, but this isn't one of them."

Meg smiled slightly. "I do want to keep seeing you. And if you think Alec will be okay with it then it's okay with me."

"Really?" Dean had been so braced for her to say no that her yes took him a little by surprise. He smiled widely. "I mean, that's great. Really."

Meg let out a relieved little laugh and ran a hand through her hair. "So, um, you still want to get together for Halloween?"

"Absolutely," Dean said heartfelt. "You got a costume picked out?"

"I had one or two ideas but nothing set in stone." she said. That was what tomorrow was for. "You?"

"Mohawk, kilt and probably eyeliner," Dean said. He shrugged. "The things I get into talking to Sammy."

Meg laughed. "Can't say I wouldn't look forward to seeing that."
