Adavnced Mad Science, October 23

For some reason, today's Mad Science class was set up to look like a bright shopping mall. The stores were closed, and the setting sun was visible through the glass skylight and doors. Professor Tomoe sipped on an expensive looking cappuccino while he waited for the students to arrive.

"Good afternoon students!" he said. "Today is our seventh class together, and since it falls in the middle of the semester, today is also your midterm. You are permitted to use anything that we have talked about in the first half of of your lessons to deal with today's assignments."

He grinned at them. "And what is today's assignment? As luck would have it, we've arrived in this mall just before it's invaded by zombies. Try to defeat one of them before it eats you. Good luck." He let out a cackle. "You'll need it."

Johnny wondered if his own gear included torching himself, because let's face it, the Zombies were going to get torched.

Victor of course grabbed a death laser because he could see his plan going wrong due to unknown variables, but he had something else in mind for his primary strategy.

"You mentioned a Demon Shark one week. I want to control one of those for this assignment. It is something that we talked about, after all, so it should be within the boundaries of the assignment."

Prof Tomoe raised a eyebrow, but looked altogether pleased at the request.

"An interesting choice, but since it was included in one of the classes, you're entitled to have one."

He fiddled with the Danger Shop controls. A rumble started from deep below the ground, an a much more realistic looking demon shark popped out of the floor. It looked expectantly at Victor, ready to follow his fully modable commands.

Valentine decided that perhaps time travel was going to be his way out. So he looked around for a DeLorean with a flux capacitor.

Prof Tomoe handed her a shovel.

"I'll grant your first request but not your second," he said. "There's even more outside than there are inside."

Prof Tomoe had nothing to say about Johnny using fireballs, which meant that they were probably fine.


There was a shuffling noise from one of the shops as a nicely dressed figure ambled out of the Dolce & Gabbana store at Johnny, arms pointed toward his neck. From this distance, it would have been difficult to tell whether it was a zombie or a Calvin Klein model, but the constant muttering about brains might have been a hint.

The zombie liked death lasers too. It ran at Zack, trying to take ti from his hand.

Valentine waited. By a DeLorean. In a mall.

Which, really, he didn't know how to operate, as Zack had done all of the driving last time. But at least it was shiny. And he could hide inside of it, if need be.

The zombie who wandered out of the music shop seemed to have been pulled out of the 80s too, if the holey legwarmers and scraggly teased hair were any indication. It stopped to look at Valentine's face for a minute, but decided that he might have an even tastier brain. It shuffled toward him at twice the speed.

Victor wasn't sure how long or if demon sharks could survive on land, so he decided to cut to the chase. "Attack the zombies," he ordered. As the demon shark followed his commands, flinging itself toward after the zombies, Victor readied the death laser. It should be able to take down any zombies or hopefully even the demon shark if necessary.

Though really, nothing like this could ever happen at the Beverly Center...

Maybe that's OK for now but someday you'll be out of food and guns
And then you'll have to make the call
I'm not surprised to see you haven't thought it through enough
You never had the head for all that bigger picture stuff
