Love Smart: Period 2, Week 5

Lies. The foundation of every good friendship or romantic relationship. Lies are the little things like whether you're a natural blonde or not, how many people you've slept with, or whether she looks fat in that dress. We all tell lies, don't even try to tell me you've never told a lie. Actually, do and I'll give you detention. Oh yeah!" He really would.

"Today I want you to tell lies. Simple lies. We're not trying to win an Oscar, just get through life with less stress. What's a normal, simple lie? Your name? Toothpaste choice? Career aspirations? Whether or not you cheated last weekend? Whether you think it should count as cheating. Something lame like that. GO!" Barney loved listening to the radio. Really.

Zack and Karal might be surprised if they noticed Barney didn't seem to be avoiding their gaze. It was as if the entire weekend hadn't happened for him. Of course it had, he was just very good at lying to himself. Such things happen when you're completely awesome and Bob Barker is your dad.

At the end of the period, Barney called for attention again. "Tonight is Homecoming. I'm sure all you attached kids will be fighting over corsages, spiked punch, and whose date is hotter. Remember men, just because you arrived with her, doesn't mean you have to leave with her. Ladies, remember this is not your mother's Homecoming - SLUT UP! Enjoy yourselves, and have a LEGENDARY HOMECOMING. Heh, coming."

[ooc: Time to play! Which means you need to entertain me, omg!]

"And have truthful social gatherings where we all tell the truth about stuff."

"Like a game and sit in a circle and maybe hold hands for encouragement. The truth sometimes hurts."

"You're right. There should be tissue, for the the crying. The truth can make you sad."

One big reason why Andrew tried to avoid it.

"And strawberry shortcake for when you're done to make you feel better. And...hugging. And whipped cream on the strawberry shortcake." Yes.

"I'm so lucky to have such a truthful friend. Isn't it great knowing you can ask me anything and I won't lie to you?"

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's the best feeling in the whole wide world. And aren't you glad you can always trust me to tell you the truth?"

"It makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside. So tell me Annette, who is the love of your life?"

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Warm and fuzzy is good. Makes me feel like snuggling." Pause. "Is that a who or what question, because you know sometimes people say who when they mean what and confusion reigns."

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 01:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well are the two different for you? Or is one perhaps part of the other?"

"It depends I suppose. A who would definitely be a person. A what might be an animal, or... a sport or hobby for some people maybe even a nameless emotion, an idea of something important..." Hmm.

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"So what, which could indeed include a who, is your greatest love?"

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Can I ask you something, Andrew? Do you think we are too young to have a greatest love?" She wasn't avoiding the question, not really. Just... defining it a little.

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not at all," he replied. "To say that we're too young to have a greatest love implies that we're too young to love at all."

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

Annette gave him a sweet smile. They understood each other perfectly. "My greatest love is Dick. And who is yours Andrew?"

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"My greatest love is..." They were supposed to be lying, right? "... Timothy Dalton."

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Annette stared at Andrew. He was lying. Even after...

"Right. What do you love about him?"

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"His commanding screen presence," Andrew stated with a solemn nod. "And his chin dimple."

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Annette folded her arms across her chest. "I think we should start that truth club right away. I think we should have a time-out chair too."

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew grimaced. "I thought..." He leaned in closer and whispered, "Aren't we supposed to be telling fibs?"

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fibs about our truth club?" Annette clicked her tongue and tried not to grin. "For shame, Andrew."

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew was abashed. "I'm sorry!" he cried. "I thought we were doing the assignment. I mean you were all like, 'The love of my life is dick'. I mean, I'm a fan, but I'm not going to shout it from the rooftops or anything."

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
She couldn't help it, she cracked up laughing. "Not that kind of dick, I mean, yeah, but..." Oh man. "You're a fan too?" Oh, that's right. Neil.

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Huge fan," Andrew stated and promptly turned red. "I mean not that I've had a lot of experience. Well, I mean, I've had experience, you know, a lifetime of, um..."

Andrew just shut his mouth and picked at the seam on his pants.

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
She cocked her head. "You can tell me. Barney would appreciate our... lying skills. A lifetime of what?"

Re: Lie to Each Other [10/5]

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2007-10-05 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew turned a deeper shade of red. "Well, a lifetime of firsthand experience with the, um... the equipment."
