Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Amazingly enough, this part of the lawn looked pretty clear. For the moment, at least.

[Welcome to the third post, for more general chatting. This part of the picnic is going on at the same time as the previous two posts. Feel free to continue the conversations you've already started in those posts, and make new threads there if your browser isn't crashing yet, but otherwise, if you want to make a new thread come on in here.]

Naminé wandered over to Anemone with a smile. "It's different being on the other side of the picnic, isn't it?"

"It feels strange. I don't feel like I should be a veteran yet." Anemone's smile didn't quite reach her eyes as she tossed Gulliver another grape. "I wish someone had been running the 'Truth About Fandom' booth when I got here. It would have saved me a lot of trouble."

"I think the probem with that booth is that no one believes anyone else about Fandom's strangeness until they experience for themselves," Naminé laughed. "And I didn't have time to be warned. I encountered two people who had no reason to be there, as far as I knew, before I even managed to reach the picnic. I received a very quick education on timelines and their discrepancies."

"I went over a week before I learned that not only was this not my world, but not my time either. One of the other new students had to tell me." Anemone shook her head at the memory. "It wasn't hard for me to accept, I've experienced aliens and such, I was just startled."

Naminé shook her head. "That's awful. I'm sorry that I didn't say anything. I didn't realize this wasn't your world, either. I knew it wasn't mine; that's sort of what drew me here."

"It's so close, that's why I didn't figure it out sooner. It is my planet, just not my world. Give it another 10,000 years, then it will be my time. Hm, now I'm wondering if Fandom survived and is still around in my world."

She tilted her head at Naminé. "You seem quite a bit more chipper than you were at the art party. Is it just the lack of That Woman, or did you kiss and make-up with that cute boy?"

"10,000 years is close for you?" Naminé tilted her head, amused, and then flushed at Anemone's question. "If you mean Valentine, we've had a long conversation and resolved some of our misunderstandings, and ..."

She giggled, sounding carefree and girlish for once. "Yes. We kissed and made up. In a pantry, while I was supposed to be working, and covered in flour."

"No, not Valentine. That other cute masked boy. YES Valentine." Anemone rolled her eyes and giggled. "Good. See? Nothing crazy about kissing. I did talk to him, and I can promise you he's no crazier than anyone else on this island."

Naminé laughed, flushing even harder. "He said I was being ridiculous, and I said he was being willfully blind, and then somehow that lead to us telling one another our life stories interspersed with kissing. Somehow whenever we talk seriously it leads back there instead."

"It must be something in the water." Anemone giggled at Naminé's blush. "You start being friends with a boy, then you share secrets, and the next thing you know, you're kissing them. I think it's contagious."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-09-02 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé's eyes lit up. "Is there a specific boy this story relates to? You've piqued my curiosity now."

Now it's Anemone's turn to blush, and she manages to turn the same shade as her hair. "Yeeeeesss, but he left. Last night. No more kissing."

"Oh. I'm sorry to hear that." Naminé smiled sympathetically. "Are you all right? Can you write him?"

"I can write him. He promised to come back for the Homecoming celebration, and I'm supposed to go visit him over a weekend sometime." Anemone busied herself with feeding Gulliver another bit of cookie. "He's just over the Causeway, so I don't even have to leave this world."

[identity profile] palestshadow.livejournal.com 2007-09-02 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
"That's rather convenient, then, isn't it?" Naminé said hopefully. "If he's close by, then perhaps there will be kissing again, after all."

"That's the plan, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up." Anemone smiled as she patted Gulliver. "I like him. A lot. But I don't want to impose my expectations on him."

"Good luck," she smiled. "It isn't easy, I'm realizing, but perhaps that's because I overcomplicate things. And if he wants what you want, then you aren't pushing anything on him. Right?"
