Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Zoe was very impressed with how well the construction people had done in rebuilding the school, and the grounds had been cleared just in time for the picnic to welcome the new students and teachers. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs, one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. Part two is happening simultaneously here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

Mac chuckled. "Something like that," she agreed.

"Honestly... Neptune? Really not that much more sane than around here in some ways."

"I'm sure we've covered this before," Peter said, "but just to be on the safe side - you don't mean the planet, right?"

"Not the planet," Mac said. "The town in California. I'm all earthling."

"Good to know," Peter said. "You don't have any powers, do you? Because if you do I'll end up copying them."

"I am but a mere mortal." Mac smiled. "I accidentally kept turning stuff into tortillas once," she added. "That was only temporary, though... and a really long three days."

"That's good," Peter said. "Especially since I don't exactly have control yet. This way we can both rest easy that I won't accidentally set the room on fire."

Mac stared for a moment. "Is that likely?" she asked cautiously.

"Not with you as a roommate," Peter assured her. "I can't copy powers unless I'm next to whoever has them."

"I really like not having any crazy powers," Mac decided. Not that she hadn't already figured that out after the tortilla incident.

"You're definitely a step up from my last roommate," Peter said, by way of agreement. "Nice guy, but he could turn into a cat. You can see how that'd worry me."

"... I think I met him," Mac said after a moment. "At graduation. He freaked out, hugged me turned into a cat and hid under a chair. Don't know many guys that do that."

"I can see how you... would not want that. Wow."

"That has got to make his dating life awkward," Peter said. "Assuming he likes girls."

"Nothing wrong with normal," Peter said. "So do you need help moving in?"

"Never going to turn down help dragging boxes around," Mac said with a quick smile. "I'm only really moving across the hall, right? Shouldn't take too long..."

"Yeah but we can bond over it and afterwards have pizza," Peter said. "Though if it was far I might ask to sneak in a friend with superstrength."

"We can probably manage even without superstrength," Mac assued him with a laugh.

"And so long as we can search out vegan pizza, I am all for that plan."

"Full-on vegan, huh?" Peter asked. Then, with a tone that made it clear he'd be totally understanding if the answer was "yes" he asked, "Will it bother you if I keep anything animal-related in the minifridge?"

"No." Mac shrugged. "I live in a household of meat lovers at home," she explained. "I'm very, very used to it."

"It doesn't," Mac assured him. "I swear. It was really more of a rebellion move on my part, than because I'm an animal protection nut."
