Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Zoe was very impressed with how well the construction people had done in rebuilding the school, and the grounds had been cleared just in time for the picnic to welcome the new students and teachers. Tables and chairs had been set up, and there was plenty of food and drinks, along with nametags, and two signs, one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and another listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

[WAIT FOR THE OCD PLEASE. OCD IS UP. This is part one of the picnic, for specifically meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. Part two is happening simultaneously here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. *g*]

"You're definitely a step up from my last roommate," Peter said, by way of agreement. "Nice guy, but he could turn into a cat. You can see how that'd worry me."

"... I think I met him," Mac said after a moment. "At graduation. He freaked out, hugged me turned into a cat and hid under a chair. Don't know many guys that do that."

"I can see how you... would not want that. Wow."

"That has got to make his dating life awkward," Peter said. "Assuming he likes girls."

"Again, God, I like being normal."

"Nothing wrong with normal," Peter said. "So do you need help moving in?"

"Never going to turn down help dragging boxes around," Mac said with a quick smile. "I'm only really moving across the hall, right? Shouldn't take too long..."

"Yeah but we can bond over it and afterwards have pizza," Peter said. "Though if it was far I might ask to sneak in a friend with superstrength."

"We can probably manage even without superstrength," Mac assued him with a laugh.

"And so long as we can search out vegan pizza, I am all for that plan."

"Full-on vegan, huh?" Peter asked. Then, with a tone that made it clear he'd be totally understanding if the answer was "yes" he asked, "Will it bother you if I keep anything animal-related in the minifridge?"

"No." Mac shrugged. "I live in a household of meat lovers at home," she explained. "I'm very, very used to it."

"It doesn't," Mac assured him. "I swear. It was really more of a rebellion move on my part, than because I'm an animal protection nut."

"This and a bit of pink hair was less likely to get me killed by my parents," Mac reponded with a smirk.

"I suppose I can agree with that," Peter said. "I can't have a roommate dying on me. Or being killed, as the case may be."

"And I'd rather not die," Mac replied, chuckling lightly. "So, I think plan B was definitely the right one to go for."

"Plus soy crisps taste good, with or without the benefit of freaking out your parents." Peter raked a hand through his hair and thought about it. "I don't even know if Ma would notice. She'd probably think I was just being me again."

"Sounds like you're about as close to your parents as I am to mine," Mac remarked.

"Oh no, Ma and I are real close," Peter said. "We just don't see eye to eye on everything. But she's crazy about me. Really supportive."

"I'm... very different from my parents." Explaining the whole switched at birth' thing, seemed a little in depth at this point. "They're nice enough. They just don't get me."

"They coming to Parents Weekend, you think?" Peter asked.

"I'm... kind of hoping the letter gets lost, or they can't come, like last year," Mac replied. "This place would probably creep them out."

"Yeah - definitely going to have to hide the weirdness from Ma," Peter said. "Nathan already knows about it, but if Ma found out I might not be going here anymore."

"We're from New York?" Peter tried, knowing that this was reaching a lot. "Maybe I could convince her there's a lot of theater people here?"
