Sometime during the mid morning hours, a different voice is heard from over the speakers.

"Good morning," Umbridge said, voice bright and cheery. "I thought it best that I introduce myself as soon as possible. My name is Dolores Umbridge and I've been hired to replace your former principal."

She didn't add 'for the time being' or make any other notations of Zoe's return. Those would be changing, after all.

"I trust everyone here will treat me with the utmost respect that an authority figure is deserved and I, in turn, will do the same for you."

No, she wouldn't.

"I'm having office hours should any student or faculty member decide to visit."

Umbridge paused for a brief moment before laughing, a high pitched sound that lasted briefly but seemed overly loud. "Thank you. Do have a pleasant day."

Seriously, the whole third floor might hear the "WHAT?????" coming from 308.

Okay, that was not a good noise.

"Hermione?" Rikku looked over at her roommate nervously. "Uh, at least Hades isn't in charge, right?"

"I'd rather Hades," Hermione said, pretty vehemently.

Rikku blinked. "Okay, she sounded kinda creepy with all that ... cheer, but maybe she just ... likes teaching?" she hazarded.

"She likes torturing students and thinking she's got power over other people. She's the reason for the... cozies!" Hermione explained.

Rikku took a few seconds to get it. Her eyes widened as she gasped. "This is her!??"

"YES," Hermione said, and there was almost a flail there. "I mean... maybe it's the wrong one. Maybe it's not really her and someone who just sounds like who am I kidding, it's got to be her."

"Okay," Rikku said with a quick nod. "Right. So she's crazy and psycho and stuff? And you guys attacked her with ... uh, cozies, last time, and that worked, right?"

"Well, the cozies were mainly to teach her a lesson and get back at her. But what worked was getting caught breaking into her office and tricking her into the Forbidden Forest where we let her get carried off by centaurs she'd insulted," Hermione explained. That story didn't make her look too good, hm.

Rikku beamed. "Whoa. See? I knew you had mischief in you somewhere. That rules."

And then bit her lip. "But that kinda doesn't help here, does it? I mean, I don't think we have centaurs."

"And I don't think they'd visit," she said, which was partly her fault. "We'll come up with something."

"Totally," Rikku said with a nod. "I mean, you've officially got experience kicking this she-beast to the curb. That's good, right?"

Hermione paused. "If you really want to irritate her?" she said, and made a clomping sound with her hands, kind of like the sound of horse hooves. "Just don't let her know it was you."

"She hates horses?" Rikku asked. "That could be totally useful. If we did another mutiny. You should come, you know. They're way fun."

"It's the centaur thing," she said. "Anytime you did that around her, she'd get paranoid and start looking all over. And I'm not sure I'm in for a mutiny. Well, I have ideas for something, but not.... mutiny."

"The naked mutiny's kinda more about the naked than the mutiny," she admitted. "But you don't have to be naked. I mean, I'm not. And we put Precious Moments figurines in Hades's office. Did I ever show you the pictures?"

"I don't think so," she said. "You took pictures?"

Rikku beamed. "John Crichton did, 'cause I was his TA for Annoying People and all that, and he gave me copies and said he was seriously proud of me and it was so great. We had a copy of the Pretty Princess Parade movie going in, like, German and there was a poster of a baby bunny that said 'SOME-BUNNY WUVS YOU.'"

Hermione thought about that. "Don't do that for Umbridge. She might appreciate the cute."

Rikku thought for a minute. "Oh. Uh. What would tick her off more, then? Like, skulls and crossbones and Goth stuff, or, like, hot guys kissing each other?"

"The last thing, definitely," she said immediately.

"They should be naked guys," Rikku mused. "Heck, maybe we get some of the guys in the mutiny to make out with each other in her office and take pictures. Think that'd freak her out?"

Hermione bit her lip. "I don't think she'd react well. She's not just going to give detention and that'll be all."

"Oh." Her expression got more serious. "Is she ... like. Dangerous?"

"Sadistic," she said. "She made Harry do lines. He still has the scars."

Way to be a drama queen, Hermione.

"Whoa." Rikku hugged her knees. "Okay. So, uh. She messes with people, not just ... that's sick."

Eve was pretty sure that wondering how much trouble she'd get in for punching the substitute principal before she'd ever even met her wasn't actually a bad thing in this case.

Anne, who was sitting at her desk and engrossed in the third Barry Plodder book (as it turned out, she'd read through the first two so fast that she'd had to go back and read them each several more times just to savor them), looked up and shuddered involuntarily. Something about Dolores Umbridge's voice reminded her of Mr. Phillips, and that couldn't possibly be a good sign.

Adam frowned at the announcement, something about it just didn't sit right with him. He was suddenly reminded of a certain witch back home. Oh no, that couldn't be good at all.
