Flight & Flying [Friday, June 22, 2nd period]

Anakin was waiting for the students on the top of the apartment building in town, leaning up against a Lambda-class Imperial shuttle.

"Welcome to the Virgo," he said with a small smile before giving them a quick rundown of the general specifications of the ship. "It's twenty meters long and is generally used to ferry soldiers or cargo back home," he said. "It's also equipped with a hyperdrive--which we will not be using--as well as two forward-facing double laser cannons, two wing-mounted double cannons, and a rear-facing double laser cannon." He met each student's eyes. "Which we will definitely not be using. We're going to do a quick swing around the system here--we won't go out as far as Pluto, but since it's not a planet any longer, I doubt it will be that offended."

He waved a hand towards the ramp. "Come aboard."

Luke bit his lip. "I hadn't thought of that." He glanced around at their classmates. "You see anyone we might be able to check that with?" he murmured.

"Um." Gavin looked around. "No one else looks too worried."

"Good point," Luke said with a relieved smile. "It's not like disaster would be imminent or anything."

He looked back out the viewport. "Sure is prettier than Tatooine."

"Yeah," Gavin said, staring. "I wish we had colors like this."

"Endor was pretty from space, too," Luke mused, "but this...man."

"There's so much water," he said, blinking. "So much."

"Most of its salty, too," Luke said. "What's the point of useless water?"

"Maybe they can get the salt out?" Gavin asked. "Put it in a bucket and let the salt sink to the bottom of the bucket?"

He really thought this was a good idea.

"You don't even want to know what I'm imagining," Gavin said, shaking his head.

Gavin looked around before saying, very quickly, "Saltrrees."

Luke gave him a very long look, then burst out laughing.

"Really? Salt trees? Really?"

Gavin glared but there was a hint of a smile beneath it. "Gimme back the crown I gave you!"

"No!" Luke said, grinning back. "I've asked Leia for the proper hairstyle to go with it and everything!"

And she'd asked him if he'd been dropped on his head. Details.

"I could've gotten her a crown if I thought she needed to smile," Gavin told him. "We could've spray painted it pink. Girls like that, right?"
