"He's been a wonderful friend to me," Isabel said. "It's the least I can do. I suppose it's a way of saying thank you for all the times he distracted me after I came back. He let me turn his hair pink one day."

"Not that time," she said, shaking her head. "He offered. Now last summer when I got the Stickbugs? Yeah, that might count."

"It was," Isabel agreed. "I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I actually missed them this summer. Platypus just wasn't the same as being a Meerkat."
