Detention, Saturday, June 2

When students entered the Danger Shop, they would have found it looked a whole lot like a palace made entirely of clouds. That was because it was a palace made entirely of clouds. The area was surrounded by cloud pillars. There were cloud chairs scattered around and a cloud table off to the side with real food and plenty to drink. There was even a cloud sound system where DJ Apollo was playing some tunes for the godly audience (mostly a lot of Marvin Gaye and The Who).

"Welcome to Mount Olympus, home of the gods. As punishment for your crimes against the school, or for having really bad luck, you're now part of the Pantheon, minus the godly powers. And hey, yeah, what do you know? It's a family reunion. Feel the pain. Now get in there and make like a god."

For some reason, pie came to mind. John began, "I like pie. But not just flaky crusted, fruit pie and graham cracker crusted filling pie, but also the less loved number known as pi."

"Pie is tasty, and pi is useful when trying to cut a pie evenly. If you know the circumference of the circular pie, you divide the circumference by the quantity two times pi, giving you the radius. With the proper radius length, you know how long to make a cut in the pie so not to shortchange pie-eaters."

"Pie also has humorous uses. There is pie throwing and pie eating, which would have been way better than hot dog eating, and pie buying down at J,GOB. Pi is funny too because it's a homophone for pie!"

John was finished, but maybe a little hungry for pie.
