There was a note in their normal meeting place that they were all to meet in the park.

Once everyone gathered around, Yondaime walked down from one of the trees, yes walked down the side of it, and out onto the middle of the pond. No folks, he couldn’t turn water into wine.

With a quick flurry of his hands there was suddenly five of him, all standing on the water. “These are some of the basic ninja techniques where I come from. Some of which might help you retrieve the scrolls from my home, which I have to say there are still quite a few of,” he smirked and walked towards the shore of the pond.

“With enough practice, concentration and control, I think each of you could be able to do these things.” He said confidently and passed out several flyers describing how to control their chakra and energies to be able to perform the said skills.

“I want you all to work together in teams or pairs on how to do this. Try to work on making copies of yourself fist, and then move on to walking up the trees and on the water. Kabuto has a lot of practice with these, so if you have problems ask him, or I, and we’ll be glad to help.”

And this is Setsuna. Walking up a tree, doing a few circles around the tree, flipping of the tree and playing in the branches a little. Totally not showing off, shut up.

Kabuto joined her up in the tree, grinning. "Child's play, right?"

"For those of us who learned to do this as soon as we could walk," Setsuna said lightly, "yes, I'd say so."

"It would be sad if either of us had difficulty with such things," Kabuto said. "The others, it makes perfect sense."

"Well," Setsuna admitted, "I can't do the multiplying thing. Not as Yondaime-sensei taught it, anyway."

"It's not that difficult," Kabuto told her, making a few fast hand seals. Two clones appeared at his sides, both looking vaguely smug. "It just takes practice."

Setsuna did a poor job of holding back the roll of her eyes and her grin. "Yes, well...that technique belongs to Kaede-san. I do not wish to step on her toes, so I stick to my own techniques."

Kabuto shrugged, the clones poofing out of existence. "You're limitting yourself if you don't learn every technique available to you."

"Perhaps," Setsuna said, shifting a little because he did have a point there. Kaede-san would not always be there, or Kotoru-kun, but, on the other hand, she was supposed to be trying to trust the group dynamic more. "But in all my years, I've never had to depend on a multiplication technique of that sort; if I've needed a doppleganger, my variation on it works just fine. In fact, usually better, because my dopplegangers are smaller, which are better for my spywork."

"Whatever works for you. Just don't say you can't do it because somebody else does." Kabuto smiled. "It never hurts to learn things, even if someone else on your team knows the same technique. Everyone has a different take on it."

"Well, maybe I'll work on it a little on my own," Setsuna offered, suddenly wondering if her reluctance to do so in class had anything to do with Kabuto. After all, she was kind of used to sort of being the exception in the class that got things easily, well, as an example to others, but all Yondaime-sensei seemed to ever really acknowledge was how well Kabuto did everything. She drew in a breath. "Besides, I think of me is more than enough. I'd onl get in my own way." For this, she allowed a bit of a smirk.

Well, Kabuto did know Yondaime prior to coming to Fandom. That, and he was the right-hand man of Yondaime's arch enemy; even Yondaime had to admit that in order to get that sort of rank from Orochimaru, one had to be good.

"Fair enough." Kabuto nodded, looking down at the other students. "...So, think we should give the noobs a helping hand?"

Setsuna peered down and considered, remembering her last time in a tree like this with Kabuto. "Would this be my version of a helping hand, or yours?" she asked, shifting her eyes over toward him.

"There's a difference?" he asked, all innocence.

"Oh, please," Setsuna shook her head. "Innocence does not become you, Kabuto. Of course there's a difference. My version of a helping hand would constitute as to actually helping them. Yours would involve trying to make it as difficult as possible for them."

After a moment's pause she rolled her eyes. "Which, let me guess, is helping them because, if they can overcome the challenge...." She trailed off, smirking, to let him fill in the blanks.

"See? You don't even need me to answer." Kabuto grinned. "I knew you were smart." He jumped down out of the tree, going to see if he could 'help' anyone.

Setsuna was shaking her head but she was also grinning, despite herself, as she watched Kabuto hop down. "I think maybe I'll just stay here and watch the master at work, then," she called down to him.
