Construction Site [Monday]

As a new week opened, Fraser's back at the site, hard hat on his head and tool belt around his waist.

"We're making fine progress," he told the workers, "but we've still got a ways to go. Continue working, be safe and take breaks when needed. It's going to be warm today."

There were hard hats (yellow and one pink) and tool belts for the students to equip themselves with.

John thought he'd try to continue improving his tan between classes. If he was in range of ogling construction workers in pink hats, he wasn't going to complain too loudly.

Ronan was walking by and plopped himself down on the ground beside John. "Enjoying yourself?" he said, smiling widely.

John stretched, "Yeah, it's really nice out here today."

Ronan looked over to the construction site. "Yes, I can definitely see that." He leaned back, stretching artfully.

"Hey, I'm just here getting a tan," John smiled deviously.

Ronan laughed. "Of course you are." He grinned. "And I'm just here enjoying you getting a tan."

"So long as you're enjoying yourself, I'm happy," he replied.

"I can think of a few other ways we could... enjoy ourselves... Later on, perhaps."

"Your mind is always in the gutter, Ronan," he said. "Not that I don't usually join you there."

Ronan laughed. "I swear, I wasn't like this at all before I met you. You bring it out in me."

"I wasn't a lot of things before I met you, either," John said thoughtfully.

Ronan smiled. "Good to know we're teaching each other things, then. Growing as people. Good thing, that."

"I was wondering about the teaching bit. I know you said you bought some...um...supplies, but I was wondering if you were...knowledgeable about their use?" John might have stammered a little just cuz this was new territory for him.

Ronan paused. "... I... not so much?" He swallowed. "I was kinda hoping you were."

John made a face, "No! Well, I mean...with girls, not...you know."

After lunch, Anders took the rest of the drinks and the picnic blanket over to the Designated Observation Area and stretched out on his stomach to enjoy a workshop-free afternoon of relaxation and enjoying the view.

Because he found construction fascinating.

Yeah, that was it.

Phoebe stretched out carefully next to him to watch Cole.

"Do you think he's finally getting enough rest?"

"Hope so." Anders scooted over a little closer to her. "'course, at the moment he's working up a sweat, but you don't see me complaining . . ."

"So, why did Chris throw you to the ground yesterday," she demanded without preamble.

Anders hesitated, unwilling to get any kind of trouble started between Phoebe and her nephew. "Doesn't matter," he said, looking away for a moment. "It's over, no big deal."

"It matters to me, Anders."

Phoebe wasn't about to let it go.

"It was about me, wasn't it?"

Anders sighed. "Yeah," he admitted in a near whisper. "It was. About you getting hurt. He thinks it's me and Bel's fault."

Phoebe stared and then reached for his hand. "It wasn't your fault, Anders! You and Cole did everything you could!"

"I know," Anders sighed, squeezing her hand. "But that's what he wants to think, so . . ."
