Library [05/21]

Sam was very happy to be back in the library, even if it was still a mess. But enough space had been cleared out that people could come in if they needed or wanted to.

Peter didn't have workshops on Monday. That meant he slept late. That also meant that if he wanted to stop by to see Sam, it was going to happen in the afternoon.

Ergo: afternoon. And one Steve Peter showing up in the library.

"Hey Sam, how's it going?"

"Hey Peter" Sam said, grinning. "I'm doing well. I think the library might actually be back in one piece someday. How are you?"

"Got a question for you," Peter said. "A serious one."

Sam nodded. "Okay, what's up."

Peter had a Very Serious expression on. It may not have reached his eyes though.

"I say 'road trip' and you say...?"

"...Endless hours of mullet rock?" Sam replied.

~~snerk~~ "If that's your kink," Peter replied. "I won't judge."

"It's definitely not my kink. But it's what I'm used to after driving all over the place with my dad and Dean," Sam said. "Are you planning on going somewhere?"

"Picture it," Peter said. "New York. You, me, Isabel, maybe Karal, Gavin and Dawn if they're up for it. Quick weekender. We could stay at my place."

"Really? That sounds awesome. I'm sure Dawn would love to come too."

"Excellent!" Petter patted the library counter to show his approval. "I'll see when we can get it together. Plus I should probably call home. Make sure they're not throwing a party or something."

"That would probably be impolite," Sam said, like he had any idea.

"It'd be willingly walking into a room filled with lawyers and related types," Peter said. "I couldn't do that to my friends."

Sam laughed. "And that makes you a very good friend indeed. Are Karal and Gavin two of the new people? I'm still learning names."

"Yeah, they're in my cabin," Peter said. "And they are seriously from out of town. Figured showing 'em the city would do some good."

"That's really nice of you. And Isabel...?" Sam asked, with all the subtlety of a pink elephant.

"Can you believe she's never been?" Peter said, oblivious in spite of the lack of subtlety. "Bringing her is why I got the idea in the first place."

"Oh? Well, I'm sure she'll be impressed," Sam replied.

"Hopefully my family won't scare her off, huh?" Peter said. He totally meant the city there. Really.

Sam smirked at Peter. "After everything she's seen here? Your family would have to be really scary."

"Obviously you have not met my mother," Peter replied.

"Not yet," Sam pointed out. "I'm good at providing diversions, if you need one."

"That I could actually need," Peter said. "No way could Ma find out about what this place is really like. She couldn't handle it. And Nathan - well, I'll handle Nathan."

"I have quite a bit of experience in hiding weirdness from folks who might not understand it, so I'd be glad to help with your mother."

"Thanks," Peter said. "I'm probably being paranoid but I wanna keep going here, you know?"
