Sam was very happy to be back in the library, even if it was still a mess. But enough space had been cleared out that people could come in if they needed or wanted to.

Sorting books would probably go a lot faster if Sam didn't end up flipping through the ones that looked really interesting.

Sabriel entered the library and looked around a little uncertainly. She hadn't been here before and she wasn't quite expecting the mess.

Sam heard the sound of someone coming in and peeked his head over the stack of books he was working on. "Hi!" he said. "Excuse the mess, we're still reorganizing everything."

"What? Oh, I see." She smiled. "Hello, I'm Sabriel. I'm looking for an atlas? Um, one for the countries of this world?" She paused. "Is there a place called Canada here?"

"Yes, there is. It's to the north of us," Sam explained, coming around from behind the counter. "I'm almost positive that we have an atlas here. Is there a specific part of Canada you're looking for?"

Sabriel shook her head. "No, not as such. I just found out that one of my cabin mates were from there so I wanted to have a look, and then I thought I should learn more about where I am as well."

"Well, I can't argue with that," he said, leading her over to one of the shelves. "I think this section managed to stay in one piece." Sam leaned down and started pushing various books aside - Maps of Middle Earth, Cartography of the Wizarding World, Planets of the Endor System - and finally emerged with An Atlas of Earth.

"Here you go," he said, handing it over.

"Thank you," Sabriel smiled as she accepted the book. "Can I take it with me or is there somewhere here I can sit down and read?" She looked around, a little doubtful of the latter.

Lunch

The library was closed for lunch to everyone except Thursday and the aides.

After a trip to the mainland to look into day care centers, Thursday arrived at the library at lunch time. She even brought food.

Afternoon Periods

Sam was actually making some headway with the sorting, if only because the books he was going through were all ones he'd read already.

Peter didn't have workshops on Monday. That meant he slept late. That also meant that if he wanted to stop by to see Sam, it was going to happen in the afternoon.

Ergo: afternoon. And one Steve Peter showing up in the library.

"Hey Sam, how's it going?"

"Hey Peter" Sam said, grinning. "I'm doing well. I think the library might actually be back in one piece someday. How are you?"

Peter had a Very Serious expression on. It may not have reached his eyes though.

"I say 'road trip' and you say...?"

Aravis wasn't in the greatest mood after her workshop that morning, and was in no mood to deal with any more stupid people.

She sincerely hoped that the tall boy sorting books was intelligent. "Good afternoon."

"Good afternoon," Sam replied, getting more polite for the sake of 'pretty girl he didn't know yet.' "Can I help you?"

"I need a book of definitions," she said, holding up a small scrap of parchment. "I do not know what these words mean and should like to find out."

The list included words such as "emo," "cute," "chick," "midol," "sweet," (she thought it might have another definition, since people were so obviously deranged to use it as an adjective to describe her) and assorted other words.

Sam raised his eyebrows and bit back any kind of snickering noise. "Hmm. I wouldn't be surprised if we had a book that defined words like that, but I'm not exactly sure where it would be," he said, turning to his trusty computer. "Are you new? To, uh, this area, I mean."

She nodded. "As of the Friday before last. My name is Aravis." She ducked a swift curtsy.

"Aravis. That's a pretty name," he said, bowing since it seemed like the thing to do. "I'm Sam. Um, welcome, although I'm sure you've already heard that countless times."
