Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

Around dinner time on Friday, the main campfire was transformed. Leis and grass skirts were available to all. A pig was roasting kabobs. There was Hawaiian music playing from somewhere. There was also a limbo stick of doom. If you lost, you died.

Okay, that was just Drax's hope. He couldn't make it happen in reality. Woe.

"I told you, I don't dance," she insisted. "I'm enjoying my spectatorship as it stands."

"Fine, just keep watching then." Seely looked perfectly innocent as he wandered over to her.

Right up until the point he tried to pull her onto the dance floor.

"This is not watching!" she protested, caught off-guard enough that he succeeded in pulling her.

"You can still watch me," Seely said, not exactly in a hurry to let go of Aravis. "That counts as watching."

"But now I'm a participant," she noted, though she wasn't precisely squirming to get away or anything. "I'm an exceptionally poor dancer, really. This could end in tears."

Aravis swayed along with him, feeling very awkward. "I think I am, and you're going to be vastly disappointed."

"Just relax and go with the music," Seely said. "You'll do fine."

Aravis sighed and tried to relax, dropping her hands on his shoulders because she really didn't know what else to do with them. "'Go with the music?'" she repeated.

"Yeah," Seely replied, smiling. "Don't think about what you're doing, just listen, then move in a way that feels right."

Aravis smiled a little and managed to sway without thinking too hard about it, trying to follow the rhythm. "This isn't terribly difficult," she said, her smile widening. "And no one's laughed yet."

"Why would they?" Seely asked, one hand sliding to rest on the small of her back. "You're doing great."

"And if they did I would hardly care," Aravis said, immediately straightening up. "I don't often do things that could result in my looking foolish while in public."

"My dad insisted on teaching Jared and I how to treat girls right," Seely said. "Which includes not breaking her toes when you go dancing."

"He's a barber cop," Seely said. "Kind of like the troopers, but not quite."
