Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

Around dinner time on Friday, the main campfire was transformed. Leis and grass skirts were available to all. A pig was roasting kabobs. There was Hawaiian music playing from somewhere. There was also a limbo stick of doom. If you lost, you died.

Okay, that was just Drax's hope. He couldn't make it happen in reality. Woe.

Isabel's been known to do the dance/sway thing herself so she smiled as she walked past. "You know if you really want to dance, I bet there's any number of guys that would be willing to join you."

"What? Oh, hi," Charlie said, smiling a little, then shaking her head. "I don't know. I'm not much of a dancer. I'm Charlie, by the way."

"Isabel," she replied. "Welcome to Fandom, where normal gets redefined on a daily basis. And nobody cares about how well you dance. Well at least as long as you don't flail about too much and hurt someone."

"I'm not that bad," Charlie said, looking shy. "And I guess you're right, hunh? Half of the people here probably wouldn't know if I was dancing wrong anyway."

"Half the people here have never heard this music before in their lives. So they won't know if you're doing it right or not," Isabel pointed out. "It's one of the benefits of having and inter-dimensional, inter-planetary student body."

"The definition of dork isn't known outside this galaxy?" Charlie guessed. "I think I can live with that. So, where are you from?"

"It's known, but we don't care here," she said. "And I'm from Roswell, and before that, a planet called Antar."

Isabel nodded, "That would be it. Tacky, tourist trap that it is."

"So, do they have a tourist bureau there?" Charlie wondered. "Or an exchange student program?"

"From Antar? No. We're refugees from the crash in 1947," she explained.

Isabel laughed because she'd just had this conversation with Peter yesterday. "I have a really good skin care routine."

"It's paying off," Charlie said, then giggled. "Do you just age really slow? Because that's kind of cool."

"No, we age normally. We were just in incubation pods till about twelve years ago," she explained. "We came out looking like we were six and have grown normally ever since. So depending on how you look at it, I'm either really old, or really young for a high schooler."

"Incubation pods? Wild." Charlie shook her head, then counted off on her fingers. "So far, I've met Gavin and Jaina, who are just from different planets, and Naomi, who's half human and half... something I don't remember, and Karal who's from another world but not another planet, and a whole bunch of people from other places that may or may not be the same as mine. It's all so new, I know I'm forgetting stuff all over the place."

"It takes a little bit to get used to it. Especially if you come from someplace that doesn't feature weirdness," Isabel laughed. "Hell I was continually surprised when I got here and I'm used to weird."
