Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

Around dinner time on Friday, the main campfire was transformed. Leis and grass skirts were available to all. A pig was roasting kabobs. There was Hawaiian music playing from somewhere. There was also a limbo stick of doom. If you lost, you died.

Okay, that was just Drax's hope. He couldn't make it happen in reality. Woe.

Prue was sitting by the fire and was roasting some marshmallows.

Gavin wandered over and watched her roast the marshmallow intently. "It won't catch on fire, will it?"

"It might. But it's a risk I'm willing to take." Prue said. "I don't mind it catching on fire as long as it doesn't fall off the stick."

He continued watching just in case it did catch on fire. "Can you still eat it if it catches fire?"

"I wouldn't recommend eating it while it's on fire but you can always blow it out." she said. She pulled her stick out of the fire and looked at the marshmallow. "I try not to leave it in there that long though."

"Have you never roasted marshmallows before?" she asked.

"No," he said and felt somewhat sheepish about that. "Never had the chance to. Does it show?"

"A little bit." she said, giggling. "I'm Prue Halliwell."

"Gavin," he said. "Darklighter. Good to meet you. Are you a marshmallow expert?"

"I'm sorry, did you just say you were a Darklighter?" asked Prue, frowning. Well, that was new. Usually they introduce themselves by shooting an arrow into Leo's chest. "Are you new to the whole Darklighter thing? Or are the ones down below trying a new approach to dealing with witches?"

She had her hand at the ready just in case.

Gavin blinked. And turned around. And looked up.

"Darklighter's my last name," he said, dumbfounded. "I've...been a Darklighter for seventeen years. Since I was born. Do we know each other somehow?"

[Ahahahaha I forgot about that canon connection.]

"Huh." Prue didn't think the guy was lying. And she still kind of felt bad for how she treated Anders yesterday so she was trying to be a little less paranoid than usual.

"Sorry. It's just um, Darklighter isn't really a last name where I'm from." said Prue. "Darklighter is more of an person. That kills people."

"I don't do that," he said immediately. "I'm...not from this planet. But I am human!"

Prue smiled again. "Another planet? That's pretty cool."

"I'm a witch, just in case my paranoid rambling didn't tip you off." said Prue.

"Thanks," he said, smiling lightly. "And Darklighters and witches...don't get along?"

Prue tilted her head to the side. "It's not that we don't get a long it's just they have a nasty habit of trying to kill our Whitelighters. Whitelighters are sort of our guardian angels. My nephews are also half-Whitelighter so that's why I was so um, jumpy before."

"But you're a really nice guy." she said. "You're a Darklighter I'll be able to get along with."

"Thank you," he said again. "And sorry about scaring you. It tends to take me awhile before I do that," he laughed.

"No need to apologize, I can get a little paranoid when it comes to demons. For good reason, usually. But I am wrong from time to time." she said. "Drives my sisters crazy."

"I have a younger sister," he said, smiling in memory. "It was fun to tease her. I think I drove her crazy a few times."

"I've got two little sisters." said Prue. Well, three if she included Paige. Not that they'll ever meet. "But thanks to Fandom weirdness I'm now younger than both of them. And my sister Phoebe is my teacher."

"Wow." She beat him at Fandom time differences. "There's someone here where I'm from that I knew when I was nine. We're about the same age now. And a girl who says she's my almost subordinate in my future."

"Look on the bright side, you've got an subordinate in your future." said Prue. "That's pretty cool."

"And I'm alive," he said. The fact that that surprised him was kind of scary.

Prue laughed. She wished she could say the same thing but she couldn't. "There you go! Thinking postive. That'll keep the weirdness from getting to you."

"Has it gotten to you?" Gavin asked. "The weirdness, I mean. The clucking books were weird."

Which meant, of course, that Anders was staying well out of range.
