Tremble Foolish Mortals: The Gods and You, Class Fifteen [Period 5, Thursday]

Ares looked disturbingly happy as he addressed the class.

"Our final today is " He clicked his fingers and a portal appeared. "If you'd all follow me through the portal?"

As the class entered the portal, they may have felt an odd tingling.

Talk, mingle, wonder what the hell is going on.

Once on the other side of the portal, Ares addressed the class. "There's one simple rule for today's final. Survive. I'll be back to pick you up later."

Grinning, he disapeared in a flash of blue light.

Which would be when the large group of heavily armed men in robes and silly hats appeared over the horizion.

You have been captured by evil priests and are going to be sacrificed in just a short while! Whatever shall you do?

In addition to various NPC villager captives, there's also a rather annoyed , tied up blonde, who might look vaguely familiar to some members of the class.

She might possibly be of some help.

It was time for the class to be sacrificed to totally-not-Dahok.

Try not to die.

Being a god and all, he can hear you, whether he chooses to reply, that's another matter.

With the evil priests defeated, and any injuries healed by Ares, it's time to head home.

Hey, at least you passed the class.

This is what happens when I come up with a final at the last minute.

I think I may have gone completely around the bend somewhere.

"Hmm. What are the chances that there's a bunch of shirtless god's on the other side of that portal?" said Annette to herself.

Okay, the blue light was totally cool. The heavily armed men in robes and silly hats on the horizon? Not so much.

"Who the holy crap? Where's our swords! Do we get nothing? What the hell? Man, I'm outta here!"

...and that would be about the time Annette was caught, captured, and slung over the beefy shoulders of some idot wearing a funky, stinky hat. "Hey! Watch the hands numbnuts!"

The gag in her mouth was just too much. Annette glared daggers at the first evil person who looked at her. That's right, get your ugly monkey ass over here! I need some water! My gag reflux is way bad, come on! Come on!

Working the binding on her wrists free, Annette pulled the gag out of her mouth herself and looking around, really wondering what the hell was going on.

Gabrielle jerked her head at Annette and held her bound hands up.

This wasn't good. Annette saw the girl and went to her quickly, kneeling and undoing her bound hands as fast as she could.

Gabrielle yanked the gag out of her mouth. "That is the last time I agree to that idea."

"Agree to what and can you tell me what is going on around here and just why we have been captured?"

Gabrielle's voice dropped into a deeper tone. "'Gabrielle, we need someone on the inside to see what's going on, just go to the meeting don't worry, I'll be watching'. No mention of what to do when the meeting turns out to be a human sacrifice and we're the main attractions."

Her jaw dropped, "No freaking kidding? Human sacrifices?" Annette folded her arms across her chest and looked around before she returned her eyes upon Gabrielle. "Where the hell are we? And where is the leader?"

"Do I look like I'm kidding?" Gabrielle said. "Far as I can tell, some kind of temple."

"Figure of speech, Gabrielle, chill." Annette gave her a look. "Some kind of temple. Damn. That doesn't tell me very much. These people that captured us, who are they, do you know?"

"Some kind of cult," Gabrielle replied. "We were trying to find out more when Xena had her brilliant brain wave."

She cocked her head, "Cult. That doesn't sound good. This brilliant brain wave include you getting captured? Okay then. I just need to get the hell out of here and make my way back to that portal."
