Spy Tech, Final Class (04/25)

Wednesday, April 25, First Period

Students entering the Danger Shop will first encounter a long table covered with heavy white envelopes. Each envelope is stamped TOP SECRET and labeled with a student's name. Technicians begin immediately handing out equipment to the class. M is standing to one side.

"Welcome to your final exam. These envelopes contain your mission briefings. You have each been assigned two targets and two mission objectives. First, eliminate your primary target. Then, isolate your secondary target and retrieve the specified item. Full marks will be given to any student who completes one of the missions, extra credit will be given for completing both.

"My techicians are outfitting you with three items. The first is a gun which fires a non-lethal laser. The second is a lightweight blunt sword. And the third is a vest equipped with special sensors, linked to both a wrist monitor and my own monitors here. These sensors will detect a shot from the laser gun or a hit from the sword. You will not be able to use either weapon to actually injure your classmates, but the wrist monitor will alert you to the sort of damage you could expect to have sustained from any shot or blow. Additionally, I will be watching your progress from the control station.

"Along with the required items you have just been given, you have access to a number of moddable other pieces of espionage equipment. You may outfit yourself with three additional useful tools to take along on your mission, with the exception of additional weapons or any sort of vehicle.

"There are three regions laid out here in the Danger Shop. You may move from region to region, and in fact will most likely have to do so in order to track your targets. The Danger Shop safety protocols will not allow you to become physically injured, but you will be able to interact fully with your surroundings. This means that you may improvise additional weapons or other useful tools, and the vests and monitors will adjust accordingly. Once you have completed the scenario, return the equipment and you may go on your way."

M took a moment to look at each student individually, and then nodded to the assembled group. "It's been an unexpected pleasure to teach this class. An experience I had not thought to enjoy. I wish you all luck in your future pursuits...and hope to God I never see a file on any of you cross my desk."

[OOC: Those of you who signed up to participate should have received an email containing information on your assignments. If you didn't, please tag me in the OOC thread and I'll make sure you get the information. This scenario is entirely dependent on the students playing it out with each other, there are no NPCs. Please keep in mind that you can't mod each other's actions or "injuries", but please also play along -- if another character aims a shot or a blow, play it out as your character would. If M catches anyone not abiding by the rules or the spirit of the game, she'll pull that character aside to have a word with them.

You'll find three OCD threads below, for the three "regions" laid out for use. You are welcome to interact with people other than your assigned targets, but you won't be able to actually "kill" non-target characters. The environment is completely moddable -- I've outlined a basic description below, but feel free to mod appropriate scenery, objects, etc. The only thing that the Danger Shop won't provide for you is additional people. Also, you may choose any three pieces of appropriate equipment to take along for the scenario -- cutting tools, explosives, communication devices, grappling guns, etc. The Danger Shop will provide whatever your character would deem appropriate, just please use common sense.

Please also feel free to email me with any questions at angel.phale @ gmail.com. The post is open for slowplay for as long as you'd like to use it.

This class has been a blast to teach, and hope you've enjoyed it as much as M and I have! Please wait for the OCD is up, have at it! :) ]

John carefully steps around the train cars, making sure to check all angles before proceeding. His sword is in his right hand in a defensive downward position, the laser pistol in his left, braced by his right as he crouch-walks along, waiting for anyone.

Annette spotted John and followed him easily, though she wasn't quiet, not wishing to sneak up on him. She was not defensive in her approach, rather she smiled slowly and whispered, "John," when she thought she was close enough for him to hear her.

He immediately pivots to the sound of the voice, pistol and sword at the ready. He drops 'em slightly. "Yo, Annette. What's shakin?"

"Not much sweetie, and you can lower you're weapons, I'm not here to take you out." She smiles and edges closer to him. "Great hiding spot."

Annette pulled out her ipod from one of her camouflage pockets, "You know, I found sometimes it helps me concentrate better when I turn it on super low. You have an ipod John? You should use it." Smiling more, she moves to stand even closer to him, undoing the first two buttons of her shirt. "Hot, isn't it?"

John does indeed lower his weapons a bit, still on guard, looking around.

And when she unbuttons two of her buttons? Totally on another sort of guard. "Concentrating is good," he agreed.

"Very good," Moving closer to him, her chest accidentally brushes against his upper arm as she pretends to study her ipod, sticking the earplugs in her ear.

"Aww, come on, dumb thing..."

JOhn was totally ignoring her boobs on his arm. Really. "I think you're going about it the wrong way," he says quietly, still scanning the area.

"My ipod is broke, dangit." She raised her very blue eyes to his and blinked slowly, a couple times, smiling slightly. "Say, John, you wouldn't happen to have an ipod I can borrow, just for now, would you? I'm willing to trade you something for it..."

After leaving Annette, Jack kept moving through the shadows, eyes open for John, eyes sharp and gun held in front of him.

He had his item, so he was half way there.

[ooc: sorry so delayed, got caught up with other stuff!]

John was trying to straighten up, sword and gun lying in opposite directions. He grunted in pain.

Jack grinned when he heard the sound and moved swiftly in that direction, quickly reaching John. "Well," he said, gun aimed at his head as he kicked both sword and gun farther away from him. "This is interesting. Sorry, John, I'd love to help you but," he pulled the trigger, "I'm not going to."

"....watch?...." John's still writhing on the ground, but making progress, from when that blonde bitch (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1356787.html?thread=79714035#t79714035) kneed him in the balls.

Annette, who had gotten loose from the stupid ties and left to die zomg! Followed Jack loosely and discreetly behind, sneaking up on him as he shot John.

She took aim at his back, and fired.

Jack sensor blinked at him, politely informing him he was dead. "Huh," he said, glancing over his shoulder and spotting Annette. "Guess I deserved that, didn't I?" He grinned and unbuckled his watch, dropping it next to John. "There you go, one watch. You look like you could use a break."

"....thanks." He's staring death-daggers at Annette.

Three pieces of equipment. Jack studied what was available and decided on explosives, an incredibly bright flashlight, and the grappling gun.

Reasonably happy with what he had, he sheathed the sword and - laser pistol in hand - hugged the wall as he made his way towards the train, sliding between it and the wall as he worked his way further in. The other options were far too open.

Annette wasn't exactly feeling spritely, given her current abused situation, but she was taking this final seriously and it didn't matter how she felt this morning. She had two specific goals and she was going to achieve them.

She dressed in gray camouflage, her hair pulled back in a ponytail and shoved under a gray fitted cap. She chose her equipment, made sure the laces on her boots were securely tied, and kept an eye on Jack Harkness, following him at a secured distance, crouching and hiding expertly behind old, run down jeeps and trucks. Annette also made sure she was not followed to the best of her ability.

Pulling out her mini binoculars, she zoomed in on the abandoned train and surrounding area.

Jack glided to a stop, wondering if he'd - heard something? Sensed something? Seen something? Whatever. Even if he was imagining things, it wouldn't hurt to move.

He checked left, right, and up, not seeing anything in the deep shadows, and eased between two cars, waiting to see if anyone was following him, gun at the ready.

Was there slight movement just there? Concentrating on a specific area for a certain length of time could easily play tricks on the eyes.

Putting her binoculars away, Annette looked around her on the dirt floor. Crouched as she was behind an age-old jeep, she was able to find a decent sized rock. Checking out the area where she thought she might have seen movement, she stood quickly and hurled the rock towards the abandoned repair shop roof, then crouched low once more, pressing herself against the vehicle's rusty side.

Hearing the ping as the rock hit the tin roof, Annette narrowed her eyes and studied the rail cars intently. The repair shop sat adjacent to the rail cars. Her intent was to confuse any and all that might be hiding.

Jack controlled his start of surprise at the noise and his eyes narrowed. Single impact, with maybe a bounce or two, no other sounds, coming from up, and he didn't think it was a person. There would have been more sounds if someone had climbed up on the roof. Very much doubting it was natural settling or debris shifting, he crouched low to the ground, using the seats as cover as he continued towards the end of the train.

[ooc: I'll be slow for a bit, and then asleep for a bit more, but can pick up in EST evening.]

Not seeing anything, movement or otherwise, Annette krept forward keeping ber upper body hunched over as she made her way towards the front of the rail cars.

She withdrew her laser gun and climbed inside the first car, keeping her body low.

[ooc: okay :)]

Making his way, quiet and sure-footed, he approached the end of the car. This was where it was going to get tricky. If he'd been wrong about the noise, there could be someone waiting outside the door.

Very slowly, Jack slid it open, wincing at the muffled squeak it made, and dropped to the ground outside, quickly pressing his back against the train. There he waited, gun in one hand, flashlight in the other.

Moving quickly but quietly through each car, Annette alternately looked left and right out the broken panes of the cars checking for any movement. When she neared the last two cars, she paused at the gap outside, listening. Then she looked at the ladder that led to the top.

Keeping her gun in her right hand, she hooked the heel of her boot on the bottom rung and began to climb up, keeping her body as flush with the ladder as possible to help prevent any shadowing. Once on the roof, she started forward, again keeping herself low, watching for any sudden movement.

At the last car, she slowed and got to her hands and knees, then laid down fully, creeping slowly towards the edge...

When no one was looking, D climbed up on top of the train and took a low position that allowed her to watch the others move about.
