Spy Tech, Final Class (04/25)

Wednesday, April 25, First Period

Students entering the Danger Shop will first encounter a long table covered with heavy white envelopes. Each envelope is stamped TOP SECRET and labeled with a student's name. Technicians begin immediately handing out equipment to the class. M is standing to one side.

"Welcome to your final exam. These envelopes contain your mission briefings. You have each been assigned two targets and two mission objectives. First, eliminate your primary target. Then, isolate your secondary target and retrieve the specified item. Full marks will be given to any student who completes one of the missions, extra credit will be given for completing both.

"My techicians are outfitting you with three items. The first is a gun which fires a non-lethal laser. The second is a lightweight blunt sword. And the third is a vest equipped with special sensors, linked to both a wrist monitor and my own monitors here. These sensors will detect a shot from the laser gun or a hit from the sword. You will not be able to use either weapon to actually injure your classmates, but the wrist monitor will alert you to the sort of damage you could expect to have sustained from any shot or blow. Additionally, I will be watching your progress from the control station.

"Along with the required items you have just been given, you have access to a number of moddable other pieces of espionage equipment. You may outfit yourself with three additional useful tools to take along on your mission, with the exception of additional weapons or any sort of vehicle.

"There are three regions laid out here in the Danger Shop. You may move from region to region, and in fact will most likely have to do so in order to track your targets. The Danger Shop safety protocols will not allow you to become physically injured, but you will be able to interact fully with your surroundings. This means that you may improvise additional weapons or other useful tools, and the vests and monitors will adjust accordingly. Once you have completed the scenario, return the equipment and you may go on your way."

M took a moment to look at each student individually, and then nodded to the assembled group. "It's been an unexpected pleasure to teach this class. An experience I had not thought to enjoy. I wish you all luck in your future pursuits...and hope to God I never see a file on any of you cross my desk."

[OOC: Those of you who signed up to participate should have received an email containing information on your assignments. If you didn't, please tag me in the OOC thread and I'll make sure you get the information. This scenario is entirely dependent on the students playing it out with each other, there are no NPCs. Please keep in mind that you can't mod each other's actions or "injuries", but please also play along -- if another character aims a shot or a blow, play it out as your character would. If M catches anyone not abiding by the rules or the spirit of the game, she'll pull that character aside to have a word with them.

You'll find three OCD threads below, for the three "regions" laid out for use. You are welcome to interact with people other than your assigned targets, but you won't be able to actually "kill" non-target characters. The environment is completely moddable -- I've outlined a basic description below, but feel free to mod appropriate scenery, objects, etc. The only thing that the Danger Shop won't provide for you is additional people. Also, you may choose any three pieces of appropriate equipment to take along for the scenario -- cutting tools, explosives, communication devices, grappling guns, etc. The Danger Shop will provide whatever your character would deem appropriate, just please use common sense.

Please also feel free to email me with any questions at angel.phale @ gmail.com. The post is open for slowplay for as long as you'd like to use it.

This class has been a blast to teach, and hope you've enjoyed it as much as M and I have! Please wait for the OCD is up, have at it! :) ]

As soon as the light hit her, she ducked between two cars as well, backing up against one as she took a moment to catch her breath, and check the rest of her equipment.

"This coming after you tried to blow me up? I'm impressed, Jack! You sure know how to show a girl a good time!" She dug into the pocket on her left thigh and pulled out a stink bomb. Yes. A real live stink stinky bomb. The kind that could sting your eyes, cause well, it was stinky.

Pulling the pin thing, she bent low to the ground to judge just how far up ahead he was by seeing where he was standing, then quick to her feet she threw the bomb over the cars, aiming for exactly where he was. However, Annette's aim might not be spot on. She did have a couple cracked ribs, you know.

"I wasn't trying to blow you up, just flush you out. Can't have a good time if I don't know where you are, Annette." He was pretty sure that's who it was, and if so, he needed something from her. "Still a chance for mutual benefit," he offered, easing through to the other side.

Which was lucky, because the stink bomb didn't land on him, just near him and he gagged at the smell. "Oh my god," he gasped and threw himself away from the stench, hitting the ground and crawling under the train carriage, coughing and spluttering.

She was peeking around the corner when he came away from the train car and she fired her laser gun immediately, watching as he fell and rolled to the ground from the stinky - "Ohmigod."

Wrinkling her nose at the foul odor that the breeze blew back towards her, she sort of felt sorry for Jack now. But hey, it was better than tear gas. Right?

"It was a good maneuver too, Jack! Well thought out!" She started forward, towards him, her gun aimed on him just in case...

Seeing as he was under the train carriage, unless she crouched down, she wasn't going to be able to see him, much less hit him. Her first shot had clipped him, though, the sensor telling him it was just a graze.

He kept moving, crawling, putting distance between him and the stink, and turned to fire the grappling gun past her feet, yanking hard on the rope to drag the hook back, trying to catch her feet and pull them out from under her, with the intention of knocking her on her ass.

She was doing the crouch-walk sort of thing *facepalm* which could be highly effective if one didn't cramp up a thigh almost immediately. The stink was bad though so she had to slow down...

...and was instantly knocked backwards on her ass, the air in her lungs whooshing out of her as she blinked, staring straight up.

Jack had been watching for exactly that and he shot out from under the carriage and straddled her hips. "Why hello there, Annette," he said gleefully, grabbing for her hands, trying to stop her from fighting back or shooting him. "Want to change your mind about making a deal?"

Aww, crap! "I should have saw that coming," she blinked him into focus clearly and instantly tried to grab at her weapons. Which was futile since he grabbed her hands and held them easily. Too easily. She frowned, pursing her lips.

"How long are you giving me to think about it?"

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

"Hmmmm." He transferred both her hands to one of his and reached for the pendant which presumably she was wearing since that was what he was supposed to retrieve from her?. "How about you give me this, I help you up, and we talk about it. I'll have half of what I need, and I might be able to arrange to let you get what you need from me without a fight if you help me with my second goal."

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
The pendant was on a chain around her neck and he pulled it free without much resistance from her. Of course, he had her pinned pretty darn good didn't he?

"Hmmm, how tempting that sounds. What exactly is it you think I need from you, Jack?" Because he was going to let her shoot him? In exchange for a pendant? Somehow Annette was a little skeptical.

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm guessing you need to shoot me, right? Everyone's got one person to kill and one person to retrieve something from." He slipped the pendant in his pocket and sat back on his heels, still hanging onto her hands, grip gentle but firm. "I've got my thing, and I've got to go and shoot John Connor. You help me do that, and I'll let you shoot me without a fight. This is just pretend, so I'm not going to get hurt. Hell, I'll even help you retrieve your item before that. That way we both pass." He tilted his head at her. "What do you think?"

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
"You've got to shoot John?" Her eyes lit up. "Yeah, I know it's pretend and that is awfully generous of you, Jack." Should she mention that she already got her item from John? Yes, he shot her but she retrieved the ipod she was supposed to take.

"I'll help you. And Jack, perhaps I should hold your thing for you while I help you? Someone out there is supposed to get it from you right? What if they can't get it? In the end, you get shot, but at least no one can steal this thing you are protecting." Which might not exactly be fair-play. But was anything ever fair in the game of espionage?

He rolled his eyes at her. "Sure, Annette. That's gonna happen." About as likely as him actually letting her shoot him. "Do we have a deal? I let you up, without shooting you, you help me get John, and I stop trying to avoid you shooting me," he said. "Otherwise I'm going to truss you up with the grappling line and leave you here. Actually, maybe I should just do that, anyway."

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
She studied him. Jack had to be lying to her. What with the eye roll and everything and not letting her saftey-hold his thing.

"Sure, Jack," she smiled. "We have a deal. No need to truss me up, really. I don't think that would be a very good idea. I'm pretty fast and could shoot you before you get the deed accomplished. But see? I'm being all nice and agreeing to your deal, so just let me up and we'll go get John. Want me to ferret him out for you? You could be hiding and I could bring him right to you. Easy as pie." And I think I'll have to shoot you first, sorry.

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I think you're lying through your teeth," he laughed. "Which makes me like you even more. It doesn't, however, incline me to trust you." The grappling line was right there, at her feet, and he shifted her hands to one hand again, holding them tight, putting his full weight on her. "And I think I'm going to have to go with option number two," he said sadly, hand inching back for the line. "Sorry. But I'll make sure someone finds you."

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] misshargrove.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Jack...Jack..." Blink. She sounded like that one movie didn't she? "Jack, please, there is no need to do this. I promise. I'll come with you and help you and shoot you later. John is devious and plays dirty. Let me help you. Jack?"

Annette's big blue eyes filled with tears. Yes, she forced them, but that hardly mattered.

"Jack, please..." As soon as he inched his hand back behind him for the line, Annette bucked wildly, trying to dislodge him off her, even as she tried to bring the hand that held her two together, towards her mouth. She would resort to biting if she had to.

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah ah ah, none of that." They were in Jack's area of expertise now, and he held her easily, jerking sharply on her hands to pull them back. "I'm not going to hurt you, I'm just going to leave you here." Just in case she was worried about that.

"Now, this won't take a minute." He caught the line and pulled it up, wrapping it several times around her wrists, knotting it as tight as he could manage, and then, holding the rope tightly, shifted around so he was facing her feet, and grabbed them, wrapping the rope around her ankles. "There," he said satisfied as he tied the last knot. "That should hold you."

Pity the grappling line was thick and not made for tying knots in, with the result that they weren't as tight as they should have been, and the grappling hook was right there, attached to the line. It'd be a great thing to use to get those knots loose, but he had no way to take it with him.

She wasn't worried about him hurting her, she just didn't like not having control of all her limbs. There was something highly unnatural about it. She let him know too by the glare she was giving him.

"Jack. You can stop this now and save yourself the pain and frustration of my undeniable wrath later." She watched him tie the line around her wrists. "You know I have-" Whatever she was going to say died when he turned around to wrap her ankles, cause his behind was right there. It might not be in the best of positions to get a really decent look, but still...

Annette sniffed and looked at him when he faced her again. "You're not really going to leave me here, right? I'm just this little girl and what if a spider or something comes along and crawls into my ear? What if a vulture flys overhead and mistakes me for a dead thing? My last memory is going to be of Jack Harkness tying me up and it wasn't to his bed." Little humor there. Hey, it was an attempt, and a chance for him to free her.

Re: Region One: The Abandoned Rail Yard

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2007-04-26 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Annette, you are just too cute." Jack brushed some hair off her face and arranged her so she was as comfortable as she could be. "None of that works on me. Ever. Sorry. But you'll be fine. The spiders won't be poisonous, the vultures you can scare away by yelling, and hey, it'll give you someone to talk to."

He patted her head and stood up. "But I'll leave you your gun because I like you and I hvae to stay," he grinned, "if you think tying people up is limited to the bed? You're missing out on a lot of fun."

So saying, he collected his gear and stealthily made his way farther in, looking for John. Jack knew he was here somewhere (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1356787.html?thread=79743219&style=mine#t79743219).

Sadly, the only thing she thought about right after he left was not the tying up thing... okay, yes it was! Where the heck did you tie people up at?

It wasn't long before she was loose, cause she was just too sneaky for Jack to think she was just going to lay there and talk to vultures. Might be a neato conversation, but it just wasn't happening.

She went after him.
