Ethics [Monday, April 23, 5th period]

Anakin, for once, looked well-rested and relaxed as the class came into the room. "For your final project," he began, "you'll contrast what you learned taking care of eggs versus actual, live younglings." He smiled. "Absolutely no points will be given if all you can come up with is that one doesn't run around or the other one doesn't fit into the refrigerator. What would you have done if the younglings that appeared last week had been here to stay permanently? How would that have affected your summer plans? Or life post-graduation?"

He pointed to a student at random. "Your final discussion begins now."

"Never," Valentine shook his head, still frowning somewhat. "I don't have much experience with any aspect of family life. I never knew my real family, my mother bought me ... from a man. And then proceeded to throw me out anyhow. The closest relationship I had with anyone before I came to Fandom would be with my juggling partners, and that's more like a business arrangement than whatever family is supposed to be. I think?"
He considered for a moment more.
"The egg wasn't so bad to take care of, though. I could probably do that. She fit nicely into my pocket."

"There's no need to be apologetic about how I grew up," Valentine replied with a shrug. "Such is life, onward and upward, you had nothing to do with it then, and really, you can't do anything about it now." He paused for a moment to consider the question. "And I wouldn't juggle that egg. Not juggle, juggle. I threw her up and caught her a couple of times. Gently. I wouldn't miss." He crossed his arms and grinned. "It's more difficult to bring yourself to juggle inanimate objects if they're inherently breakable and you've gone and given them names."
