Ethics [Monday, April 23, 5th period]

Anakin, for once, looked well-rested and relaxed as the class came into the room. "For your final project," he began, "you'll contrast what you learned taking care of eggs versus actual, live younglings." He smiled. "Absolutely no points will be given if all you can come up with is that one doesn't run around or the other one doesn't fit into the refrigerator. What would you have done if the younglings that appeared last week had been here to stay permanently? How would that have affected your summer plans? Or life post-graduation?"

He pointed to a student at random. "Your final discussion begins now."

Anakin smiled. "You have been gone for a while, then." He leaned against the desk. "On your trip, did you have any ethical choices to make?"

It took Zuko a moment to decide whether or not being stuck in a cave with one of your worst enemies and being forced to fight together held any sort of ethical choice. He was dense like that.

"Yes," he said grudgingly.

"Write an in-depth yet strangely handwavey paper on three decisions you made while you were gone and why you made them," Anakin said with a nod. "If you can weave in the concepts of either the Seven Deadly Sins or the Seven Virtues," he continued, handing Zuko handouts describing them, "so much the better."

Zuko squinted at the papers. He'd never heard of those things, but he could catch the general drift. He nodded and wondered if he would be able to get Marie or someone else to write everything down for him. Then again, he didn't want Marie to know what he did. "Anything else?"

"That should do it," Anakin decided. "Welcome back."

"When should I hand it in?" Zuko asked as he folded the papers.

"Graduation is next Saturday," Anakin said, "I'll be in my office finishing up my grading next Friday. Stop by then."

"I'll have it done," Zuko said with a nod. He seemed pretty determined about earning his place back.
