Library - 4/11

Coffee and prom to do list in hand, Isabel opened the library.

[ooc: Radio people, okay to say Parker & Isabel talked, but the topic is NFB.

"I'm afraid to ask," Isabel said, pushing the last chair in and heading back to the circulation desk. "He was in one piece at least?"

"Yes. A bruise or two, less than he's gotten at Bel's hands on other occasions." Parker grimaced and leaned against the check-in counter. "And he's now in the depths of romantic angst again. Why do some people never learn?"

"Romantic angst?" Isabel asked warily. "For which one?"

"Would you believe both?" Parker rubbed her face, then muttered, "Or something. I don't know about Anders. Sometimes I think the boy just isn't right in the head."

"There's not enough ice cream in the world," she sighed. "And introducing him to a nice single girl just won't work will it?"

"Sadly, I doubt it. Not enough intensity for him, that's the *only* explanation I've got for his taste." Parker rolled her eyes. "So, yeah. I told him you'd be by with support too. How go Prom preparations? This time last year, I was screaming at Krycek and Jake for messing up the backdrops."

"Well let's just hope the intensity doesn't get him killed before they graduate," Isabel grumbled. "So far, so good. Everything seems to be on schedule. Although I'll believe we actually have gondolas when I see them floating in the pond."

"Much, much sympathy. Here's hoping it doesn't rain, either. Think you could get someone here to mess with the weather?" Parker looked gleeful. "Have you got your prom dress yet? I picked up a gorgeous one at Stuff on Sale on Monday."

"I do actually," she nodded. "I still haven't gotten a chance to wear the one I got for Homecoming. So I'm going to wear that. And if it turns into tulle this weekend? I'm going to be pissed."

"It better not. My dress didn't change much, but still. The one I've got is red and backless and does not need alterations, thanks." Parker wrinkled her nose. "How did your trip home go? You seem okay now, but...."

"It was long, tiring and pretty emotional," Isabel said, looking down at the counter. "They wanted me to stay. But I managed to convince them otherwise."

"I'm glad. Do they undertand about what might happen in August?" Parker asked tentatively. Maybe in the next six months, Isabel's parents might talk her out of going back to Antar.

"Sort of?" she said, looking a little guilty. "They know that's when it'll be possible to try and contact them if I can find a way."

Parker gave her a look, but only said, "Let Max and Michael make *that* explanation when it comes around. They owe you one for this."

"If there's an explanation to make. I still have to figure out a way to make contact," Isabel pointed out. She didn't add the part about hoping they would even still be alive to contact.

"I suspect they'll be able to do something by then. If only to tell your parents they lost track of you." Parker shook her head. "Anyway. I'm glad you're going to be here for another month. I'm not ready to say good-bye to people yet."

They hadn't been able to contact home during the six months they were there, so Isabel doubted they'd be calling home with bad news. But she pushed the thought aside, concentrating on the here and now. "I know. Cam was by earlier and we were talking about it. He starts cadet camp in June."

"That's so cool. I'm glad he got in, I know he had his heart set on it." Parker shook her head. "I have so much stuff I want to get done before the end of the year. I'll probably still be thinking of things on my way out the door."

"Well that means you'll have to come back and visit as an alumni," she said. "And torment those of us left behind."

"Oh, got that right. Homecoming and Christmas, at the very least." She grinned, then checked her watch. "Almost time for Hunting. See you in there in a little bit."

"I'll be there with bells on," Isabel nodded. "Well not really, but I'll be there."
