Revolutions: Week 12, Period 5

The class had been handwavily notified to meet in the Danger Shop, and that was where they found Aly who was looking slightly gleeful as she made sure the final settings were correct.  Once everyone had come in, she turned to clasp her hands in front of her and greet the students.

"Good day, everyone.  Today we are talking, again, about explosions.  A few classes ago we talked about pipe bombs and molotov cocktails which are both nice bombs, but they're a bit sloppy.  They're street weapons more than tactical weapons, and they can't necessarily be directed towards strategic goals."  She grinned at Sam if she was present.  "As some of you noted then."

"This isn't to say that there isn't a place for that type of weapon.  In a revolution, you use any weapon you can get your hands upon.  But unless you're planning on simply erecting barricades in the streets and never moving beyond that - and that rarely works as an overall strategy - you're going to have to move to a more strategic outlook."

"We did this twice while fighting in the Copper Isles.  The first time," a shadow and then a look of triumph crossed Aly's face quickly, "we destroyed the Rajmuat slave docks.  It was a message to the King and to his Spymaster.  That they couldn't stop us and they couldn't continue to profit off the labour of slaves.  The second time, the capital's armory was blown up to distract the soldiers for a bit while we set up for the endgame.  I planned both attacks though, sadly, I had other responsibilities so couldn't plant the charges on the armory."  She smirked.  "That and I might possibly have been in trouble still for going on the slave harbor raid."

"What I've done today is separate you up into groups and given you a structure to decide how to destroy.  We're not focusing on the actuality of the explosives this time.  Let's assume that you have an co-conspirator who can handle the making of the bombs.  What I want you to do is decide where to place them and discuss the possible problems with destroying these bridges and forts and the possible issues that may arise while attacking them."

"If you have someone in your group who has the magic to deal with the situation, that's fine.  You can use that, but I'd like you also to look at the problem without magic."

"After you've made your plan, the Danger Shop has all these structures programmed in.  You can choose where to want to place your devices and see how big an explosion you can make."

"Questions?  Ideas?  Worries?"

[OOC: Please wait for OCD with groups is up!]

Sam was already looking the plans over and determining the best place for charges while she waited for Isabel.

"Hey Sam," Isabel said. "I think I'll defer to your greater experience here."

"Oh, no, you're not getting out of it that easily," she smiled slightly. "You have experience now. What do you think?"

"Most of my experience was in stealthy, hit and run type stuff. We were usually trying not to be noticed," she explained, frowning a bit at the memories. Isabel gave the plans a half-hearted glance, but a night spent worrying meant they were the last thing she really wanted to talk about. "Sam, what's happened with Jack?"

Sam gripped her pencil so hard she snapped it in half. "Jack should tell you."

So it was that bad. "Jack told me to ask you," she said quietly. "He came by to help me with something last night and he was incredibly tense. I didn't know what to do."

"I don't know that there's anything we can do for him," Sam said quietly through a clenched jaw, "Lana took his will away and pretty much made him her doting love slave against his will. And then she tried to tell me that he was taking advantage of her."

Of course this would be the class Tyler couldn't talk during.

He gritted his teeth, trying not to make any noise as he waited for his teammates.

Irulan appeared wearing her headdress, which she unknowingly didn't know was transformed into dead stuffed rodents and weeds.

"Hello," she said.

Tyler waved politely. "Pumice cathedral forever."

He looked dismayed, and made an apologetic gesture to convey that he couldn't talk.

"Um, what?" Irulan asked, turning her rodent headdress to listen to him more carefully.

"Gloved parrots," Tyler said, speaking slowly and more emphatically.

No, that wasn't right either. "Kentucky meringues beta, philodendrons ..." He sighed, then pointed at his throat and shook his head vigorously.

"Your throat hurts?" Irulan said, blinking.

Bridge sits quietly while waiting for his group members. He'd twiddle his thumbs, but mittens make that more difficult.

Marco sat next to Bridge. "Ever blow anything up?"

Jamie sat on his chair with his name tag that John had made for him around his neck.

His tail was wagging. Blowing up stuff is cool!

Parker stared at the nametag, then sighed. "Yeah, of course I'm working with the chihuahua. Typical. Walk into a closet up on Fifth somewhere? One bark for yes."

Jamie barked twice and sighed.

At least he wasn't confused for being John again.

Or asked if this Rita Skeeter person was around again.

"I'm guessing spell, then? Unless the cafeteria food is getting crazy." Hastily, Parker added, "Just answer the first question. And hey, think we can take advantage of you being tiny and cute to plant these things where no one else can get to them?"

Madeline looked around. She had a vague idea that she was supposed to know Bel and D'Anna, but she couldn't quite place them.

"Hey, Marie." D greeted. "Ready to blow things up?"

Anders absentmindedly petted the sugar glider on his shoulder as he waited for his group. He still looked pretty down, but it was hard to be outright emo with a cute fuzzy friend sleeping on your shoulder.

Said cute fuzzy friend dozed on Anders's shoulder, occasionally opening his eyes to look around.

Steerpike sat back, considering his notes and pondering questions such as where one might get the explosives if one weren't only doing it for class.
